Excerpts from the Book titled ” The Devil in your Government” By Phillip Osung
Psalms 122:6,“ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”
There was a time in my Christian journey when I never saw any need to pray for my country. At some point in my life I was not impressed with the things going on in my country, especially when it had to do with the way the government or the people in power piloted the affairs of our nation. As such I got to a point where I harbored extreme bitterness against the government. Suddenly, there was a new twist.
I had my primary six education at Holy Child Convent School, Oron, and for over eight years I did not attend any secondary school. I had a scholarship, same with my elder brother, which was declared missing twenty four hours and the sum of five hundred naira was given to me as at then by the chairman of the local government just to pacify me for the missing scholarship. All these and more generated bitterness in my heart against my country and I vowed to become a terrorist and an antagonist to the government of my nation.
The same man who had harbored so much bitterness against the government of the nation is the same person that the Lord has given the burden of praying for the nation since 2014. This burden came when the Lord Jesus appeared to me in 2014 and told me he had made me a Jeremiah to this nation and this generation. He went further and told me again that nothing would take the place in this nation without him revealing it to me ahead of time. However, he made it very clear to me that the government would come after me very strongly, but they will not prevail against me because he will be with me always and deliver me from them.
In 2015, I wrote a book titled, “Let’s Pray for Nigeria.” The strange part of this book is that there was no author’s name on the book because I never wanted my name to be written as the author.
In the past few weeks, the spirit of God has been speaking deeply inside of me. He has been revealing very deep things about the nation we are in today. These deep revelations are what birthed this book.
If there is one thing you need to know as you read this book, it is the fact that the devil is interested in the political structure and system of your nation. This is the reason why the sound hearted and believers are usually not allowed to rule nations or get involved in the political systems or meetings to be carried out.
As a child of God, you represent Christ here on earth. As a child of God, you are an intercessor for the country you represent. The reason why you must go on your knees and pray fervently for your nation is because the devil wants to destroy your nation. His agenda is to cause havoc in the political structure of your nation and untold hardship for its citizens.
The devil’s interest in the first government
Isaiah 14:12, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will be like the Most High.”
There has never been a government that the devil is not interested in. He is always interested in every government with the aim to take over and control such government. The scripture above speaks of his interest in the government of God.
Here we see that the devil was interested in the first government in heaven; the government that was ruled by God. The devil wants to take over anywhere he operates. This is why he was interested in taking over the government from God Almighty, the one who created the government.
God established the government but the devil who was brought in by God to work along with him suddenly became highly interested in taking over the government from God. This lifestyle is visible in the life of many of our politicians and people not even in politics; always wanting to take over a place, power etc.
The devil was also interested in taking over the government of the first man that was created on earth. God created the first man, Adam and commanded him to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth as well as having dominion.
However, when the devil discovered this divine agenda for mankind, he was unhappy. He therefore, decided to hatch a plan to botch God’s agenda for mankind. He came to deceive man and derail God’s agenda for him.
Genesis 3:1-5, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
In the above passage, we see that the devil came subtly, in the form of serpent just to deceive the woman and through her lead humanity astray. He asked her if God truly told her and her husband not to eat from the fruit of the forbidden tree.
The devil agenda was to ensure that Adam loses the dominion that God gave to him. All he wanted was to take over the government from Adam and see to it that his plans and agenda is being implemented in what was supposed to be the “Adamic government.” It is this same agenda he is still going about implementing in almost every government today.
