ECHOS OF LIES BY SEGUN TEWOGBOLA

‘The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?  Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.  Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.   Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.’ – Jeremiah 23:28 – 32

In the Old Testament, prophets were of different kinds and types. While there were prophets of Baal, there was also prophets of Ahab, and the same Bible introduced to us the prophet of David, and the Prophets of God.

When people addressed a Pastor as ‘my pastor’ they are indirectly reducing the calling of man to the level of man (prophet of David). Man of God or Servant of God should have been more appropriate.

Now my friend, have you ever wonder why there are so many prophets and prophetic noises in Africa and among the black folks than in other continents and among the white folks?

Going back to the above Scripture, you will notice some important factors that God Himself pointed out which I summarize as prophetic integrity. This is lacking more among the black folks than the white folks (I have met with a white folk who has no integrity on this same matter).

Poverty of mind is a major factor that drives these fake prophets to say what God is not saying, and to go where God is not sending them.

  1. If you had a dream, simply say it so. And if you had the Word of God be faithful in what God tells you. At times, the prophet may not understand the message, except the receiver to whom it was sent.
  2. Some prophets are in the habits of stealing words from their neighbors, political prophets who only prophesy at General Elections time are in this category. Those that depends on rumors and whatever you confided with them which later become their prophetic basis.
  3. Some prophets are found of saying God said, when God did not say anything to them. They do this just to make you happy and get you with their prophetic baits.
  4. Due to these incessant prophecy, people now take the word of God lightly. Most of their statements never come to pass because they are not from God.

Religion is the opium of the masses. Go to India and see the practical meaning of the statement – where poverty has driven people to religion believing that their financial problems would be solved through religious activities. This is also true in many Africa countries.

I observed that religion thrives well in areas or with people with abject poverty. My worst years on Earth were those years when I allowed prophets and prophecy to fine tune my life and dictate my path of destiny.

My friend, you need to go back to the New Testament and relate to the coinage and the job description of a Prophet in the early church. Were they speaking to individuals raising their hopes and deceiving them? Or were they speaking to the Body of Christ to edify them through sound Prophetic Teachings?

A man/friend came to me yesterday telling me that God said so, so, and so to his ears about me. It was a packaged and pathetic lie, because I have discussed the issue with him sometimes ago.

Imagine an American President relying on this prophets to win election based on what these prophets said. On the day of truth, the prophets gathered and they were calling for angels from Africa to help with the election – but it was a vain exercise, for God was not in it!

How long must you go on with this prophetic nuisance? When God said to you, ‘I know the plan I have for you (Jeremiah 29:11). Must a man now stand as God before you so as to bring the already ordained plan of God for you to come to pass?

Take my counsel seriously, do not forget it. Do not share your problem with men, take it to God in prayer. But if you withdraw your trust from God and deposit it with a prophet, you will feed on lies continually until you learn bitterly to trust in God.

Beware of these filthy – mouthed liars parading and priding themselves as prophets.

I am vexed!
