The 2023 national convention of Redemption Truth Assembly, Ikorodu, Lagos, commenced earlier today with vacation Bible school for children/teenagers, holding at the sprawling Christian Retreat Centre, Owutu, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Christian Benefits witnessed the flow of lots of children/teenagers trooping into the exclusive retreat centre to register for the 4-day vacation Bible School for children/teenagers aged 8-19 years old.
The senior pastor of the church, Pastor Kayode Ibrahim, explained to Christian Benefits magazine that the annual vacation Bible school for children/teenagers was part of the mandate of the church to raise people, including children from their tender age, to have a Christ-like personality.
He added that the children/teenager vacation Bible school was also aimed at raising powerful servants of God from childhood for the future, adding that more than 80% of standing Christians and preachers today gave their lives to Christ in their childhood.
Pastor Ibrahim further explains: “We have the vacation Bible School for children/teenagers aged 6-11, and aged 12-19. The children/teenagers will come with their personal needs like clothes, towels, tooth brushes and roll on e.t.c for the four-day vacation Bible school from Wednesday August 30 – Saturday September 2, 2023.
“We have been holding the vacation Bible school for children/teenagers annually for many years now where we teach children/teenagers the word of God, prayer time, quite time and how to live a complete Christian life. The parents will bring their children to the hostels and return home till the end of the programme to take their children back home. During this period, we also teach the children/teenagers the time to go to bed and the time to wake up to have their quite time, pray, read and study the Bible. We also have recreation schedule for physical exercises and activities that are helpful/healthy to the spiritual growth of the children/teenagers.
“We are hosting hundreds of children/teenagers from all parts of the world for this programme. God has given us full capacity facilities though we are still praying for more. Our yearly vacation Bible School for children/teenagers is free of charges with free accommodation and feeding for the participants for the entire four days. We have security personal guiding our facility 24 hours, so the safety of the children/teenagers in our care during this period is guaranteed. Once the children/teenagers registered and entered into our premises, they can’t go out till the end of the programme to return home with their parents. The impact of our vacation Bible school for children/teenagers has been very tremendous since we started the programme.
“We have the power time where we pray for impart and encounter for the children/teenagers. We have the time for the word of God where we take the children/teenagers through the scriptures. We have child evangelism training teachers who are well trained. Statistics shows that more than 80% of standing Christians today gave their lives to Christ in their childhood. Children evangelism is very important because that is when one will be able to carve eternity with Christ in their hearts.
“Our instruction is similar to when God told the mother of Moses; take this child, take care of him for me and I will pay you your wages. Although that was the voice of Pharaoh’s daughter, it was actually the voice of God through the mouth of Pharaoh’s daughter. When a child is thoroughly impacted it is the doing of the Lord. Then, we have Godly Seeds Children club through which we follow up, monitor and build on the spiritual growth of the children/teenagers after passing out from our vacation Bible School for children/teenagers from all parts of the world,’ Pastor Ibrahim finally explained in an exclusive interview with Christian Benefits.
