The Lagos state chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) recently conducted elections of new officers for the state chapter, which saw Pastor Yemi Davids, Senior Pastor, Global Harvest Church, Ogudu, Lagos, emerged Lagos PFN new chairman.
According to media reports, the elections held Tuesday May 28, 2024 in Lagos, and supervised by a three-member committee set up by the PFN national body, in the chairmanship election, Pastor Yemi Davids came first with 10 votes. Pastor Osase Iyamu came second with 8 votes while Rev.Yomi Kasali came third with 7 votes. Rev. Janet Onaolapo, general overseer, Abundant Life Church, Agege, Lagos, was returned unopposed as deputy chairman. Also returned opposed are Rev. Udo of Foursquare (Secretary) and Pastor Osunmakinde (Treasurer).
Bishop Joseph Ighalo Edoro, Senior Pastor, A Touch From Heaven Int’l Ministries, Ikorodu, Lagos, has set a 5-point agenda for the Lagos PFN new leadership. Bishop Edoro, who is also the convener, All Pentecostal Stakeholders, in an interview with Christian Benefits, called for the regulation of the practices of Pentecostal churches and ministries in Lagos state as one of his agenda for the incoming Lagos PFN executive.
“First, the incoming Lagos PFN leadership should ensure all Pentecostal ministers and ministries in in the state register with Lagos PFN, and bring them compulsorily into the fold. Second, they must regulate the practices of Pentecostal churches and ministries in the state. Third, the new leaders must ensure they provide good welfare package; not only for Pentecostal ministers but the entire body of Christ in the state.
“They should support struggling ministers and ministries in the state. When they show love to the people, the people would voluntarily come under the PFN umbrella. So, they should provide incentive support for struggling ministers and ministries in the state. Fourth, the new leaders should promote love and unity in the body of Christ and avoid discrimination in the body. Fifth, they should organize regular crusades, programmes, ministers’ conferences, seminars, workshops and trainings that will benefit the ministers,” Edoro advised.

In a related development, Apostolic Round Table (ART) has appealed for caution over the outcome of the election which it says has brought respite, and also proved that the PFN national leaders have listening ears.In its statement titled: ART reacts to Lagos PFN signed by its convener, Apostle Bolaji Akinyemi, ART noted that “having observed the politicking that rocked the Lagos state chapter of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) as widely reported within the media space, it became necessary to pay attention thereto. Feelers gotten from the election held on Tuesday 28th,2024 brought respite and proved to us that the national leadership of PFN and the elders have listening ears and indeed the love for God and the nation was paramount amongst all.”
ART then congratulated all the participants and the winners in the election, while awaiting the ramification of the results of the election by the national leadership of the Penetcostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). “We therefore congratulate everyone who participated and those who emerged as winners at one capacity or the other; as we pray that the kingdom service which is the essence of this quest would prosper in their hands.
“While we await the ratification of the election by the national exco as the constitution requires before the results of the election can be substantive, we want to acknowledge the efforts of leaders and church fathers who felt before now that there are individuals who should be installed unquestioned in order to enhance political gains; the counsel which was not to stand since godly counsel would prevail eventually.
“Such person we want to caution from making categorical statements in the media until the decision of the national exco has been made public. As we await official pronouncements from the national office on the matter at hand, we assure all that winners will be duly congratulated and expectedly trust the rest to work with them; since there are no losers in this kingdom. God bless Nigeria. God bless PFN,” ART concludes in the statement.
