Be sincere in solving Nigeria’s problems, Osagie charges leaders
Bishop Lawrence Osagie, the Presiding Bishop of Power line Bible Church, Lagos has urged Nigerian leaders to be sincere and selfless in provision of welfare for Nigerians as the heat towards the 2023 general elections begins.
In an interview with Christian Benefits on the state of the nation, Osagie, an erstwhile chairman of Lagos state Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) advised the Nigerian government to seriously tackle the festering insecurity challenges in the country with more determination, address the epileptic power supply across the country, provide quality education for the Nigerian youth and empower the less privileged economically.
He particularly pointed that the erratic electricity supply to Nigerian homes and corporate organizations by the government agencies does not portray Nigeria as a serious-minded nation despite all the wealth and natural resources that God endowed her. “God has blessed Nigeria so much that we ought not to be crawling. It is a huge disappointment Nigerians are not enjoying regular electricity supply. Our policy makers must sit back and begin to address the issue of poverty alleviation in the country.
“With constant electricity supply across the nation, the ordinary man can help himself. If we have the right environment created by constant electricity supply and security that will enhance even greater economic success for the citizenry of our country. The educational sector also needs a lot of attention. Our schools should be properly funded by the government. We should put more emphasis on skills development and acquisition. This will be more beneficial to the people at the lowest rung of the ladder.
“The government should set up vocational centres and also involve the private sector to set up vocational centres where people are taught skills; people who otherwise will not be able to go to university or other higher institutions of learning,” the bishop advised.
He further charged the government to create enabling environment for the citizens of the country to take initiatives to develop themselves. With that the cleric assured that Nigeria would go many steps further in the comity of nations. “Let us be sincere in proffering solutions to our problems, the preacher finally advised Nigerian leaders.
