The Arewa Women’s League United Kingdom (AWLUK) has condemned unequivocally the recent killing of some worshipers during service at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state by suspected terrorists through bomb explosion.
The league, in a release signed by its president, Engr. Joyce Maagbe, described the killing as cowardly and gruesome attack that claimed the lives of fellow Nigerians, and expressed its condolences to those affected by the Owo tragic event.
“The Arewa Women’s League United Kingdom (AWLUK) unequivocally condemns that cowardly and gruesome attack that claimed the lives of a large number of our fellow Nigerians, young and old, this past Sunday (the 5th of June 2022) at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State,” the release stated.
The Nigerian Arewa women league expressed that every law-abiding citizen of Nigeria and indeed of any country is entitled to the highest level of peace and security as they go about their daily lives.“We therefore call upon the authority to do all they can to bring the perpetrators of this murder to justice,” the league demanded, and hoped that the Nigerian government would meet the widespread security challenges that the country is currently facing.
“We are truly saddened by the injuries and loss of lives, therefore we offer our deepest condolences to all those directly affected by the Owo tragic event. We pray to God for the deceased to rest in perfect peace, for the early recovery of all that were injured in the attack and for the Owo community to heal and come to terms with this irreplaceable loss,” the league commiserated.
