Citizen Bolaji Akinyemi marks Nigeria’s 66th Independence with Book Launch
As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, Citizen Bolaji O. Akinyemi will unveil a new book, 2027 and Beyond: Own the Process. Vote for Value. Activate Performance Democracy, at a public event in Lagos on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The launch, organised by the Citizens Advancement and Development Initiative (CADI), will hold at Plummet Mission, 3 Adefolu Drive, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. It starts at 9 a.m. prompt.
The book carries a foreword by Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah. It is described as a citizens’ handbook for Nigeria’s General Election, meant to help Nigerians move from being spectators in democracy to active owners of the democratic process.
In a statement, CADI invited Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to join a national conversation about the country they want to build beyond 2027. The book urges citizens to look beyond candidates, parties, ethnicity and propaganda and to ask what kind of future they are choosing. Its rallying lines are “Own the Process. Vote for Value. Defend Your Vote. Activate Performance Democracy.”
The organisers described the initiative as a “Knowledge Revolution for responsible citizenship” and said Nigerians can reclaim the country “not through violence, but through knowledge, participation and responsible citizenship.”
Ahead of the 2027 General Election, CADI is also calling on professionals, institutions, businesses, faith communities, media organisations and civic groups to become Citizen Education Partners.
The book comes in two editions. The CAPE Copy, priced at ₦1,500, is meant to make the book accessible to every citizen. Organisations and individuals can pre-order 100 copies for ₦150,000, which the organisers say will fund free indigenous-language editions, audio versions, and copies for teenagers and first-time voters at no more than ₦1,000 each. The Author’s Copy, at ₦5,000, is the standard edition and supports Citizen Akinyemi’s publishing and knowledge-mobilisation work.
