Femi Adesina: A brief profile
A journalist who has put 40 years into the profession, post-graduation, Femi Adesina’s career trajectory spans radio, television and newspaper.

Adesina is a Pastor with the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.

He attended the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) where he obtained a Bachelors degree in English Studies in 1986. He was also at the Lagos Business School in 2011, where he got an Advanced Management Diploma (AMP).

Professionally, Adesina was Current Affairs Officer, Lagos Television, 1986-87, Radio Lagos, 1987-89, Features Writer (Supplements) Vanguard Newspaper, 1989-1991, and he joined Concord Press in 1991 as Senior Writer.

He spent the next 10 years at Concord Press, where he held different positions like Chief Correspondent, Deputy Features Editor, Features Editor, Deputy Editor, and ultimately Editor of the daily newspaper, National Concord. He was Visiting Member of the Nigerian Tribune Editorial Board between 2001 and 2002.

Adesina was pioneer editor of The Sun Newspaper in 2003, and was there till 2015, holding positions of Executive Director, Deputy Managing Director, and Managing Director/ Editor-in-Chief, respectively.

In 2013, he was elected President, Nigerian Guild of Editors, a position he voluntarily gave up in 2015, after he was appointed Special Adviser on Media and Publicity by President Muhammadu Buhari. He held the position for eight years, and has the distinction of being the first person to serve that long in a democracy.

Adesina is into media consultancy, and holds the National Honors of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (FNGE).
