Intentional Prayer Unlocks Sudden Answers, Says Dr. James Akanbi

Dr. James Akanbi, the General Overseer of God’s Mercy Revival Ministries (GOMERM), and members of the ministry were filled with joy as God demonstrated and renewed His covenant with the church through profound testimonies of sudden healing, deliverance, restoration, and salvation at the just-concluded Covenant Day 2026 annual Easter programme. The event was held at the Mercy Campground, Papa Lantoro, Ogun State.

Testimonies shared during the programme included the miraculous disappearance of a tumour, the healing of a cancerous leg, and deliverance from various ailments. There were also accounts of freedom from witchcraft and occultism, the breaking of evil covenants, restoration, and the salvation of hundreds of souls at the one-day gathering, which attracted a large and diverse crowd from all walks of life.

In his sermon, Dr. Akanbi charged believers to be intentional in prayer if they desire to experience the sudden touch of God in their lives. Drawing a parallel between Isaiah 65:24 and Acts 16:25–26, he highlighted instances of divine intervention that occurred suddenly.

“The sudden release of Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25–26 was fulfilment of the prophetic declaration in Isaiah 65:24. As believers prayed earnestly, God intervened, delivering the imprisoned apostles to the astonishment of the jailer. Sudden answers to prayer often bring surprise because they are inexplicable, incomprehensible, and beyond human imagination. Such manifestations come through intentional and expectant prayer,” he explained.

Delivering a stirring message themed “God of Sudden Answer: Time for Radical Divine Intervention,” the cleric urged believers to move beyond routine and passive prayer habits, encouraging focused, deliberate, and faith-driven communication with God. According to him, intentional prayer goes beyond mere words; it involves aligning one’s heart, faith, and expectations with God’s promises.

“When prayer becomes intentional, it provokes heaven to respond swiftly,” he declared. “God is not slow; it is often our lack of spiritual focus that delays manifestation.”

He further emphasized the need for urgency in the spirit, noting that divine intervention can occur suddenly when believers position themselves rightly. Citing biblical examples, he explained that many experienced instant breakthroughs following earnest and targeted prayers.

Dr. Akanbi Also encouraged participants to cultivate consistency in prayer, maintain unwavering faith, and support their supplications with righteous living. He stressed that sudden answers are not accidental but are products of spiritual preparedness and divine timing.

The Covenant Day 2026 programme, which drew worshippers from various locations, continued to focus on awakening faith and stirring expectations for miraculous interventions in the lives of attendees.

Many participants expressed renewed hope and spiritual vigor following the message, describing it as timely and transformative. The event also featured energetic, prayerful, and prophetic song ministrations by Tobi Akuraku and the Zion Choir of the church. Refreshments were served several thousands of congregants, who departed with renewed hope and anticipation of experiencing sudden answers to their prayers before the next Covenant Day celebration in 2027.
