As Light On A Hill Ministries set for a shift experience to the next level of raising a generation of Christ followers that stands for God in all spheres of influence, its set-man, Pastor Kayode Braimoh, reveals to Christian Benefits that the commission is passionate in equipping believers to take strategic positions as the light of the world and make a difference, as he hosts Bishop Thomas Aremu, who was one of the Vice Presidents (Vice President, Mission Inspectorate Service, MIS) at the Living Faith Church Worldwide, as guest minister at THE SHIFT EXPERIENCE of Light On A Hill Ministries on March 2, 2025.
Please, how will you like to be introduced?I’ll like to be introduced as Kayode Braimoh. I’m a pastor.
Share with us about your background, including your salvation encounter.
I was born over four decades ago to Christian parents from Kogi State. My primary and secondary educations were in the same state before pursuing university education in University of Ilorin, Kwara State. It was while in Ilorin that I had a personal encounter with the Lord. On 5th of March, 2000, I made a conscious decision to devote my life to Jesus Christ. This decision was while I was approaching one of Evangelist Isaac Omolehin’s 40 to 120 days crusades at the Kwara State Stadium.
How will you describe your kind of lifestyle before you accepted Christ, and what informed your decision to give your life to the Lord?
My lifestyle before encountering the Lord personally was fairly modest but not void of some youthful exuberance. I think my Christian background really helped in shaping my worldview and prevented me from veering off severely.
At what point in your walk with the Lord did you receive the call to ministry, and what is the vision and the mandate of your ministry?
I realize now as an adult, that the attractions I had towards the things of God at an early age were a bit unusual. I would sit down as a 12 to 13-year-old and gulp chapters and chapters of Scripture at a go; I would be up as early as 4am and worship till daybreak; I would usually just get away from the house into the woods to meditate, sing and pray alone. I didn’t know for what. I just loved the presence of the Lord. My parents also knew and didn’t bother me at all. In fact, they reinforced it. There was a grandmother neighbor we once had who would invite me to pray for her when she fell sick. I was less than 10. A lot of those things happened. And they were great experiences. It was after the 5th March 2000 experience that the Lord opened me up more to His assignment for my life in ministry. I got into school by May the same year and got very involved in the fellowship. Some consider my growth fairly rapid I believe because of my Christian upbringing. By November 2002, I had the privilege of serving as President of Redeemed Christian Fellowship (RCF, the campus arm of RCCG) University of Ilorin. The Lord used it as a strong foundation for what would be a future Christian service. From then on, I had served in two ministries over the space of 12 years. Light On A Hill Ministries was founded in February 2, 2020 with a vision to raise a generation of Christ followers that stands for God in all spheres of influence. As the name suggests, we believe real ministry is outside the church. We are focused on equipping men for Kingdom influence in the social space.
What are your church programmes in line with this mandate, and please share with us some testimonies from these programmes.
In line with this mandate, our first 40 minutes every Sunday morning is called Equipping the Saints (ETS) – an interactive teaching session where real life issues are discussed and practical solutions obtained, so that people can go back to their homes and workplaces armed and equipped for effectiveness and impact. We also have ongoing mentoring programmes where younger people are attached to experienced older ones in different aspects of life. Thirdly, because we’re familiar with the complexities of the secular environment, particularly the public sector, we have a safe place where workplace challenges can be shared and relevant counseling and intercession are provided. Fourthly, our second Sunday service every month is called Friends & Family Connect Service. It’s a semi-formal but very organized and well coordinated session where the “regular service” is “put on hold” as it were, and people can move around, interact and connect with people. We realized that Christians can really claim to love God so much, but they don’t know the person who’s been sitting next to them in church for over a year. We claim worship of God, but usually weak in fellowship. We intend to bridge that gap. In the course of these programmes, we have seen gifts discovered, businesses patronized and quality relationships built. We’ve seen corpers guided into getting good jobs, young people going back to school, or getting skills training and doing well for themselves. We’ve also seen a number of trauma issues resolved by the grace of God. We’re seeing young people opening up more and getting help in their areas of struggle. Ultimately, we believe in the Nigerian renaissance and are passionate in equipping believers to take strategic positions as light of the world and make a difference.
Tell us about your forthcoming programme on March 2, 2025.
About the March 2, 2025 programme. The SHIFT EXPERIENCE is a programme we started last year, 2024, around our anniversary, because we know, according to Scripture that, “The path of the just is like the shining light that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18). It is the will of God that His people make progress, so the programme is geared towards receiving grace from God to go from one level to another in the path of His purpose for us.
What are the issues that will be discussed or addressed at the programme?
The theme for this year is: “Ever Increasing Light.” We believe God that by the instructions and impartations at the programme, God will be causing our lights to shine brighter this year and beyond in our different endeavours.
Tell us about the guest speaker, Rev. Thomas Aremu, and what the participants should expect from his ministration at the meeting.
Bishop Thomas Aremu is a veteran in Christian ministry if I’m allowed to use that word. A former Vice President at the Living Faith Church worldwide, he has seen to different church plants and leadership in different parts of Nigeria and Africa. He was used of God as the pioneer pastor of Living Faith Church in Ibadan and was used tremendously when he was the Bishop of the Ilorin Diocese, where we met for the first time. He is a man of the Word, and very prophetic. He is also a father in the faith. People can expect a pure, undiluted, Word-based divine impartation of the Spirit for advancement in life and ministry.
Aside this programme, what are other special programmes of the ministry in 2025?
Aside this programme, we have our midyear programme called “Recharge” in the first few days of July. Another major programme is planned towards the end of the year called “Oil of Fathers.” We also have “Relationship Months” two to three times a year.
Share with us your experience converting from Islam to Christianity. Did you suffer any form of persecution for your conversion?
I think it was my grandfather that got converted to Christianity. He became “Baba Ijo” of the African Church in my village before he went to be with the Lord. My dad was a Christian.
How will you describe your walk experience with the Lord since you accepted him?
God has been faithful.
Finally, can we have a look at your lovely family, taking about your wife and children, and their roles in your ministry?
Thank God for my family. I have a lovely and very supportive wife, Omolola, and two great children.
