Honor for an erudite scholar, pastor and community leader

Dr. Olubiyi Arikawe, former university don and researcher, was recently honored by Rescuer School of Theology, Trauma Healing & Chaplaincy Institute with an Award of Excellence in Community Leadership. Below are excerpts of the profile of the former lecturer at the University of Lagos and Yaba College of Technology and currently a clergy, entrepreneur and community leader in Agiliti Mile 12 area of Lagos state.

Pastor Dr. Olubiyi Akintola Arikawe (AMINIM) was born to Pa & Mrs. Arikawe in Okitipupa, Ondo state of Nigeria in December 19, 1950. He attended Baptist Primary School for his first school leaving certificate. He obtained the Grade 11 Certificate and further obtained both the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) certificate and the Advanced Level (A/L) certificate in 1975 and 1996 respectively.

Subsequently, Olubiyi Aknitola Arikawe gained admission into the University of Ibadan and graduated from the ivory tower in 1980. He obtained Masters in International Law & Diplomacy (MILD), University of Lagos (1986/87) and another masters in Linguistic, University of Ibadan (1989/90). He became a full-time lecturer at the University of Lagos (1981-1983), along side Yaba College of Technology where in lectured as Business Communication Instructor (1981-1986). He was also a researcher at Nigeria Education Research and Development Council, Lagos state (1983-1990).

In 1987 Dr. Olubiyi Akintola Arikawe represented Nigeria at an international seminar on Educational Material Production programme in Togo, West Africa. In 1988, he became the Chairman/Managing Director of YEMSOLA Nigeria Limited from 1990 to date. In 1994-1996 he was a member, Caretaker Committee, Okitipupa local government. Presently, Arikawe is Mission Captain of The Evangelism Army Mission (TEAM) (2005 till date). He has written many books and publications which include the following:

Pastor Olubiyi Akintola Arikawe is also a member of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) among other Christian religious bodies. He was a former chairman of PFN chapter, Oke-Oko Iseoluwa Province. He is also a member of Dr. D.K Olukoya’s Goshen Club International (mentorship club). Currently, he is the Mission Captain of The Evangelism Army Mission (TEAM), chairman, Agiliti Community Elders Forun, coordinator, Agiliti Mile 12 Stakeholders Forum, and chairman/managing director, YEMSOLA Nigeria Limited. Pastor Olubiyi Akintola Arikawe was honored with honorary doctorate award on October 12, 2012 by Divine Favour Theological & Special Seminary. Today, he is being honored with an Award of Excellence in Community Leadership by Rescuer School of Theology, Trauma Healing & Chaplaincy Institute.
