Comedies on God’s altar inimical to next generations – Dr. Makinwa

0

Dr. Samson Makinwa, Presiding Pastor, Kingdom of Light Ministries (KLM), Lagos, has enjoined fellow preachers to exercise cautions in their quests for church growth, particularly those who allow comedians on God’s altar in their churches to crack jokes, particulary comedians who he says corrupt the scriptures or joke with the holy writs in the minds of the unsuspecting and immatured members of their congregations. He warns that such acts of desecration of the altar of God and corruption of the scriptures by unguarded comedians are inimical to next generations of believers. The entrepreneurial pastor also shares KLM’s core values on church growth and some survival strategies for Nigerians in 2025 amid the economic hardship in the country in this interview with Christian Benefits. Excerpts.

Sir, I wish you a happy New Year 2025. What does a New Year mean to you?

A new year to me means another chapter. It provides an opportunity to write the next chapter of my life, the next chapter of my ministry and the next chapter of my business to be able to project and pursue the next vision, the next ideas and the next opportunities in all these specific areas of my life at the start of every New Year.

Tell us about God’s move at Kingdom of Light Ministries (KLM) in 2024

The Lord intensified the solidification of Kingdom of Light Ministries (KLM) in 2024 towards achieving all our set goals plans. KLM is still a growing church.  In about 22 years old, the church has experienced both entries and exits of members. We are doing a lot of works to solidify the church to become strong as a legacy we would leave behind. I’m not looking for crowd at all cost. I’m looking at building a church that will endure beyond us. I’m looking at how our church members will endure the faith, and understand beyond our church doctrine the nitty-gritty of the word of God, the basic things about Christianity and the basic needs of every true child of God.

What are your efforts at raising genuine believers that truly know God?

First, I do not focus on, or pursue church growth by all means. I focus primarily at raising genuine Christians. Today, many churches pursue church growth by inspirational messages or by comedies and entertainment; turning the sacred altar of God to a stage for jesting and laughter. Staging comedies on God’s altars is inimical to the next generations of believers because they will take the acts to a very dangerous level that will not be good generally for the Church. How can one explain what some churches call Comedy Sunday whereby the pastors invite worldly comedians on their church’s altar to reel out ridiculous and ungodly jokes; corrupting Bible verses, in the minds of the immatured in their congregation? How can pastors be watching people laughing to comedies in their sins and iniquities on their way to the burning hell? Souls are suffering and perishing outside there and we are in the Church laughing. The comedians stylishly make jest of the Bible; corrupting the scriptures in the hearts of the feeble minded people in their congregation, particularly those who are not yet solid Christians. I am not bothered whether KLM has a crowd of members or not. I’m only bothered if I’m unable to make KLM members steadfast in the Lord. I made efforts to ensure all KLM members are very strong in the Lord; filled with the Holy Spirit, sanctified and have the utterance of the Holy Ghost; and to also understand what born again, sanctification and regeneration are all about. I also ensure they understand that we all have either of two places we are going at the end of our earthly life here; that it is either we leave here to spend eternity in heaven with Christ or with the devil in hell. I often tell them that the essence of my entrepreneurship teachings to them is to enable them make money to spend for God, and also for them to live in comfort as happy and fulfilled children of God.

But how did the Church get to this stage of comedians desecrating God’s altar and corrupting the scriptures?

The Bible already foretold this as one of the signs of the End-time, and the Church cannot resist it because it is very sweet and entertaining. Many pastors believe they would attract people on their Comedy Sunday to fill up their churches. Of course, they will achieve filling up their churches with people. But the question is, is it filling up the church with half-hearted Christians who are going nowhere other than hell that matters? Eternity means nothing to most of today’s Christians because the world is too sweet to them to think of one imaginary eternal life. When you preach hell to them, they don’t understand it, not to talk of accepting its reality. Tell them about eternity, they don’t understand it beyond somewhere God lives according to them. But we must still preach to them about the two sides of eternity; the heaven and the hell. In those days we preached and sang where will you spend eternity? Such songs like: “Eternity, eternity where will you spend eternity?”Eternal Life, eternal life I want to be in eternal life, God save my soul, I want to be in eternal life God save my soul,” broke down sinners into tears thirsting for the eternal life in heaven. When you sing these songs people would be weeping unto repentance from their bad ways. But sing those songs today to people, they will dismiss or ignore you.

Does it mean because the Bible has foretold this, no one can correct it?

We can correct it but we cannot correct it entirely. Jesus left witches and wizards behind. He didn’t wipe them off completely from the surface of the earth. In our own case, each and everyone of us preachers must work on our individual desks. I should be concerned with the eternal life of the members on my own desk. You should be concerned with the eternal life of the members on your own desk. I may not be able to win the entire Lagos residents to spend eternal life with Christ in heaven, but I should make concrete efforts at making and leading those people in all my areas of influence; particulary our church members, to make eternal life in heaven with Christ.

Some people blame many preachers like you who introduced the business and prosperity dimensions to the gospel of the kingdom for the lukewarm attitudes of many of today’s Christians or believers to the undilluted gospel message.

Jesus several times used the market place for references in the Bible in the works of his ministry as illustrations that the people could easily relate with. Most of the churches that made impacts in our land came with business mind. They came with hospitals, schools and industries etc which are all business enterprises. There’s nothing wrong introducing business or entrepreneurship to the gospel message. The essence of my coming to this environment (Idimu) is church. But what introduced me and established me ahead of the church to this environment is business. God gave me a very successful business ahead of the church so that I won’t steal his money.

What is your take on the economic hardhip in Nigeria in 2024, and as a successful entrepreneur, what is your advice to Nigerians on survival strategy in the New Year 2025?

As far as I’m concerned I have never seen any new year better than the previous years economically in Nigeria. There has never been any good or better year. Globally, there’s nothing anyone can do as an economic survival strategy outside the help of God; particularly to individuals who absolutely trust and depend on him for their total survival. The economic situation or hardship in Nigeria and globally this new year 2025 will be worse than that of last year 2024 until the cure for the symtoms of the economic hardship globally is found and applied. However, for individuals the best economic survival strategy in 2025 is to discover, know and understand your vision to be able to work and make money out of it to feed your wife and children and other dependants, and also to take care of God’s work. You must think what can bring you money. I also want people to know that it will better for them to look for businesses that will consitently bring them legitimate money. So, it is all about how you can make money legitimately for yourself.

2025: Great opportunities for financial success for investors – Orogojimo

0

Prophet Dr. Moses Orogojimo (J.P) says Mr. Donald Trump’s second time as US President will cause Christians to suffer due to his moves for the Christianity faith. The general overseer of Divine Call Power Bible Ministry, known for some of his past prophecies that came to pass, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian-Ukraine war, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s emergence as Nigeria’s president against all odd, in this interview with Christian Benefits on his 2025 prophecies, reveals, among others, that Trump will disappoint lots of people in his second time. He also says President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to fix Nigeria will be frustrated, but Nigerians will enjoy a better economy in 2025 though in a harder way. Excerpts.

At the start of every New Year you release prophecies for the New Year. Tell us about your yearly prophecies at the start of every new year.

It is a gift from God. If one talks about it some may say one is proud. You can’t give what you don’t have. One difficult thing is been in ministry and be saying things that you don’t know about. When God calls one, he gives one a specific assignment. It is that assignment one acts on. Ministry is like the medical practice with specializations. Prophecy is one of the specializations in ministry. There are specialists in ministry as in the medical practice. Unfortunately, some ministers operate in the offices that God has never called them as specialists. Prophecy is not all about gift. It is an office God places some people as His prophet. Some prophet offices have limitations. There are prophets who cannot see about nations. Seeing vision does not qualify one a prophet. There are seers. There are prophets. Seers can only see. Prophets do not only see; they also make declarations of God’s mind.

What will you say about merchandising and commercializing of prophecy? Those merchandising their gift of prophecywill face God’s judgment someday. By God’s grace, I release God’s mind to people and to the nations and it ends there.

Many prophets rarely go on streets evangelizing. Why is your own different?

Any ministry, including prophetic ministry, without commitments to evangelism is business. Evangelism is the core mandate of all ministries, including the prophetic. All spirit gift and callings are for soul winning. No minister, including prophets, is too big to do evangelism. Preaching Jesus to lost souls is my primary focus. Even when anyone comes to my office for counseling and I realize the person doesn’t know Jesus; I will first preach Jesus to that person. I will introduce Jesus to the person before counseling. I can pray for the person without him/her knowing Jesus but any miracle one receives without knowing Jesus will be attacked by the devil.

When starting your ministry 30 years ago did you envisage its level today.

In the first place I didn’t even think of ministry not to talk of envisaging anything. The ministry has not even gotten anywhere regardless of its level today.

Aside your personal calling by God as a prophet, you were also trained in the prophetic ministry by one Nigeria’s prominent prophets. How is your training under the ministry of that great prophet impacting on your ministry today?

He is a dynamic man of God and my brother too. We are from the same town. He taught me how to pray. He taught me how to have a personal relationship with God. All the experiences I went through in his ministry taught me useful things in terms of prayer and the word of God. When you are training under any man of God, you don’t only learn how to be useful but also how to sustain your usefulness.

On the background of your past prophecies that came to pass including severe economic hardship in Nigeria, astronomical rise in fuel prices in Nigeria and the Russia-Ukraine war; what are your prophecies for the New Year 2025?

Below are the breakdowns of My 2025 Prophecies captioned: New Glory, New Generation and New Rising and Emergence of New Financiers;

NIGERIA

 I. Nigerians will still face economic hardship in 2025 due to problematic leaders

who only care for the future and survival of their children and not of the masses.

2. Nigeria’s economic in 2025 will be better but harder to achieve.

3. The cost of living may go down but the economy would fall apart

4. Nigerian should not depend on the APC government for survival in 2025. I saw a very big tree, and also saw some short trees grappling to get fruits and leaves from the big tree. Unfortunately when the small trees got to the big tree they didn’t see fruits and leaves on it for their survival. I asked God what this big tree is, and the Lord told me it is the All Progressives Congress (APC).

5. This year 2025 many people will leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP) and other political parties and joined the APC, yet the party will still offer Nigerians nothing. The party will only become bigger for nothing.

6. President Tinubu will made efforts to fix Nigeria but the cabal will frustrate him

7. There will be a great opportunities for financial success for investors

8. God says he will not give us wealth but give us opportunities to make wealth

9. God says he will water the money in our hands if we plant it

10. This 2025 many people will recover what they have lost in past years

INTERNATIONAL

I. There shall be attempts to truncate the swearing-in of Mr. Donald Trump as the next US President but all the attempts will fail. He will eventually be sworn-in

2. President Donald Trump will disappoint many people, including his associates because his leadership approach in his second tenure will different from the first.

3. President Donald’s bid to establish Christianity under his administration will cause Christians to suffer because most of the people he will aim at are Christians.

4. I also see very big disasters in the US, London, China that will take a lot of lives; and if care is not taken China will attack America by technology. I saw some bombings but America will not fight because it will be a dangerous situation.

5.  London will experience flood it has never experienced that will claim lives

6. China economy will fall massively because God is not happy with President Putin for allowing devil to use him against the people. The blood of vengeance is crying over him

7. I saw a serious outbreak of fights among the people in South Africa. The Youths will be killing themselves; mostly the foreigners except God intervenes.

It will be a calamity for unsaved souls – Mosaku-Johnson

0

Dr. Femi Mosaku-Johnson has charged the preachers of the gospel to give foremost priority to soul winning, saying otherwise, it will be a calamity if any soul is not saved due to their negligence. The Lead Pastor of Jesus Way Outreach Mission and crown prince of Aguda Ogba kingdom, Lagos, reveals the vision of the Discipleship College arm of his ministry to teach disciples everywhere, including in various churches, to raise other disciples, in the below interview with Christian Benefits magazine. Excerpts

Please, how will you like to be introduced?

I am Dr. Femi Mosaku-Johnson, Lead Pastor, Jesus Way Outreach Mission Ogba, Lagos. I founded the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria. I am the Chairman of Hero Advisory. I am also the State Consultant Counseling Psychologist PSSDC Magodo, Lagos.

Share with us about your background, including your salvation encounter.

I was born into a Christian home in Lagos Island, Lagos. We relocated to my nativity Aguda Ogba in 1981 where I am from the paramount ruling house. But for my Christian stand, I should have been the sitting king now. I left for Minna in November 1985 and I was coming back home briefly to Lagos by Railway and the Lord Jesus entered into the Railway at Kutiwenji and came to me physically in a very symbolic encounter. He told me to set myself apart for Him that He has eternal assignment for me in drawing people to Him through salvation of their souls. Since then, I have not been disobedient to Him. He has appeared to me severally with definitive messages.

Tell us about us your transition from the insurance world to a preacher of the gospel

I started my career in insurance in Minna in 1986. Along the line I went to UNIJOS Consult to do diploma in Law while still working on full time. I resigned to finish up my degree down south. I later did Masters in personnel psychology at the then Ondo State University. I was working as insurance agent on my own. One day in 1997, I went to place an insurance Third Party with my former company which I resigned from in Minna. I went to the head office on Broad Street, Lagos. The MD saw me and said why are you running up and down? Who asked you to resign your work? He later said go and resume your work. I resumed and started lunch hour fellowship that same day in a nearby church for the staff. Other people started to join us and so many miracles were recorded. I resigned through the leading of God in 2000 without having anything to do. I had married with a child and expecting another child by this time. I got home and was looking for direction to go. I first of all started to lecture as part time lecturer at Lagos State polytechnic. Later I got engaged by the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre as Counseling Psychologist and Lecturer for 8 years. It was at the library of the PSSDC that I saw the advert of the Nigerian Institute of Management for the position of Senior Consultant. I saw about 23 people attending the interview but I was the one that was selected. I brought in series of innovations and I was the best staff of the year in my 5 years there. It was at the library of the NIM that the Lord spoke to me, and said I am taking you to a place painted white. As I was opening the newspaper, the Lord pointed to a particular advert. I had to obey Him and applied. It was at the final interview that I saw the place actually painted white and it was the Institute of Directors. When they didn’t bring the employment letter on time I put my mind off it. One morning the Lord said to me that a woman will call you and they will bring your letter from the place painted white today. The woman called me and the letter was brought that same day as the Lord said. I built the training and Director Development department from zero to world class. After three and half years the Lord asked me to leave, and l resigned. The resignation caused heinous pandemonium as the leadership didn’t want me to go. From there I stated consulting. I started the Hero Advisory, and also the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria. I believe if the Lord wanted me or anyone to leave their jobs and face ministry alone He will not be revealing to me one place of work or the other that I will work. 1 Thess 1: 11-12. One day the Lord told me that no one can help Him. Despite my work I go out on evangelism, crusades and I have been holding ministerial discipleship conferences across the country. We hold mission outreach from time to time apart from pastoral assignments with preaching in many churches and conferences.

Specifically, what is the mandate of your commission to ministry, and the gift God endowed for the commission?

The Lord revealed to me my ministry, Jesus Way Outreach Mission, for the purpose of soul winning everywhere. The Lord told me what matters to Him soul is winning. It will be a calamity if any soul is not saved.

Tell us the vision and the purpose of the Discipleship College arm of Jesus Way Outreach Mission, and its relevance to the body of Christ generally

The purpose of the Discipleship College; an arm of our ministry is to obey the commands of Christ “ Go ye into the world and raise disciples, “ Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” Mark 16:15. We are teaching disciples everywhere to raise other disciples.

2025: Operation Bring Chronic Sinners to Church -Afolabi

0

Apostle Dr. Joshua Afolabi says the major aim of his ministry, Palace Fire Chapel, in 2025 is to intensify its efforts at leading more sinners to Christ through the church’s strategic and intentional evangelism model tagged Operation Bring the Chronic Bad People to Church” through the preaching of the gospel to die-hard sinners at market places, motor parks, brothels, drugs/alcohol joints and yahoo/cultists groups among others. In this interview with Christian Benefits, the global preacher and a nominee for the 2025 Benefits Awards for Missionary Excellence (BAME Award) for Christian Service, further reveals that Palace Fire Chapel will also increase its community service support to the needy as part of the Church Social responsibility (CRS) activities to couch the effects of the current economy recession in Nigeria.   Excerpts

Please, share with us God’s moves and power at Palace Fire Chapel in the just concluded year 2024, with some testimonies

God moved powerfully, mightily and greatly at Palace Fire Chapel in 2024 with awesome testimonies as proofs of his mighty presence in our midst. We had a major testimony of one of our pastors who had been looking unto God for a child for about 15 years, blessed with a baby boy in 2024. One other pastor in our church also got married in 2024. One of our daughters also had a baby. God added more souls to the church, including a devoted Muslim converted. We also had a number of testimonies of some of our members who got visas and traveled abroad, and several who secured gainful employment offers. Our branch church was expanded and renovated to take a capacity of 400 congregants. Aside the construction works at our Lekki church we also started our church fellowship in Abuja in 2024.

As a global preacher one will expect Palace Fire Chapel should by now have branches in some of the countries you have traveled and preached the gospel.

By the grace of God we have registered the church in some countries, and presently making efforts to put some things right lest we started the branches and be idle. We are raising some citizens as partners to start our overseas branches. By the grace of God we are optimistic of starting our branches in America and Europe this year.

Aside this, what are other major projections of the church for 2025?

By the grace of God, we are opening our Lekki and Abuja branches this year. We will increase our community service to couch the effects of the current economy recession in Nigeria on the less privileged in our church community. We started the community service in 2024. We are going to do more this year. Our community service entails giving free medicals, free food stuffs, free empowerment, including cash support to start businesses, to the less privileged in our church community. By the grace of God we will hold our first community service this year in February.

Aside meeting the physical needs of the people, what are the church’s plans   aimed at meeting the spiritual needs of the people as well in this year 2025?

We are planning more outreach programmes this year to win more souls for Christ. We are going to make more noise organizing revival services in all our branches to boost the faith and the growth of the believers. We are also going to market places, motor parks, brothels, drugs/alcohol joints, the yahoo/cultists groups and other dangerous zones to preach and lead die-hard sinners to Christ through our strategic and intentional evangelism model tag: Operation Bring the Chronic Bad People to Church.” Our targets are not the already churched, but the unchurched roaming about the streets or staying in their homes on Sunday morning instead of been in church, like touts, hooligans, drugs addicts, criminals, prostitutes, yahoo gangsters and street urchins. In this model, we encourage our members to invite each at least 10 persons that they know are very bad in their neighbourhoods to church every Sunday, including the backsliders who for one reason or the other have lost the faith and those who have never known Christ or heard the gospel at all.

You are a prophet yet you don’t release New Year prophecies. What’s your take on preachers releasing New Year prophecies at the start of every year?

I don’t believe in making public prophecies. First, you might say publicly today what God had shown you and only for God to change his mind the next day. God told Isaiah to tell Hezekiah to put his house in order; that he would die soon. But the same God later changed his mind and added 15 years to Hezekiah. If it were to be today many people would label Isaiah fake. Most times prophets don’t know when God has changed his mind. God, who told Jonah to prophesy to Nineveh that he would destroy the city, later changed his mind and spared the city. That angered Jonah that his prophecy about Nineveh didn’t come to pass. Second, God might not change his mind but postpone the time of the prophecy. Prophecy has to do with past, present and future. God determines the fulfillments of prophecies in his own time. So, prophets should handle the declarations of prophecies with caution. Third, there are lots of people out there on the streets that need prophecy for their deliverance, healing, fruitfulness among others. So, why do most of these prophets that release yearly prophecies concentrate only on the nations, politicians and the famous, and not go to the ordinary persons on the streets and prophesy to them? Most of the prophecies by these yearly prophets put fears into people. They often make declarations of bad thing as if God doesn’t have good plans for the people. Most of them release yearly prophecy for personal recognition that that God is using them. Ironically, what many of them declare as New Year prophecies are predictions, guess works or forecasts. Prophecy is none of these three practices.

How do you distinguish prophecy from prediction, guess work and forecast?

Most genuine prophets of God don’t seek public recognition and applauses. In fact, many of them don’t what people to know about them or their ministries, less their prophecies unlike most of the yearly prophets showboating. Most genuine prophets hide themselves. They are often afraid or reluctant to declare what God has shown them (prophecies). How did I know this? When Elijah complained to God that he was the only prophet that remained, God showed him other 6,000 prophets that were hiding in the caves from public recognitions. You don’t announce yourself that God is using you with public declaration of your prophecies. It is God that will announce you like he by himself announced the 6,000 prophets hiding in the caves.

What is your take on New Year resolutions making at the start of every year?

I don’t believe in New Year resolutions. Rather, I believe in New Year revelations. Making New Year resolution is like building confidence in yourself these are what you will do, and these are what you will stop doing; whereas nobody can do anything if God does not give him the grace to do it. Apostle Paul said, I am what I am by the grace of God. Any resolution without the grace of God backing it will be fruitless. That’s why you hear most believers saying, I will do this, and that, by the grace of God. Any resolution without the grace of God is frustration. Grace is the enabling power of God that will make you do things, or not to do things. Believers live by revelations; not by resolutions. As a believer and preacher of the gospel of Jesus I live by revelations. So, I will rather say these are my New Year revelations.
