Calvary Bible Church Idimu, Lagos has embarked on the rehabilitation of Anjorin road in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos state. The road rehabilitation project, which is being handled by Clare works Resources, is aimed at making the road comfortable for both the residents and visitors to the developing community.
Dr. Olumide Emmanuel, the overseer of the church explained to Christian Benefits that the Anjorin road rehabilitation project is part of Church Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of Calvary Bible Church (CBC) to make her community comfortable. “As a kingdom church, we are committed to ensuring we do all we can to make our community comfortable for our church members, the residents and visitors to our community. The road rehabilitation project has been on our church list for awhile but could not be done till now due to funding issues,” he explained.
Before Calvary Bible Church embarked on its rehabilitation, Emmanuel described the state of the less than one kilometer road as really bad. “The state of the road was really bad. So bad that our church members and other users of the road often suffered the ordeal of passing the other street in in order prevent to save their vehicles from damage,” he said
The entrepreneurial pastor noted that the road was deplorable because it is in a new area. He acknowledged the past efforts of the residents of the area to work on the road. “The residents have tried what they can (to work on the road). I am not aware of any effort from the government to work on the road. Our discussions with the government over the time have not produced the expected result. We are clad that the sacrifices of our church members have made this a possibility,” he exuded.
The BAME Award-winning Dr. Emmanuel, who said the rehabilitation project has so far gulped a couple of millions and is still a work in progress, disclosed that the project is 100% funded by Calvary Bible Church. “Project is being handled by the church building committee with accredited in-house contractors,” he disclosed, revealing that upon its completion the rehabilitated Anjorin road will reduce travel time, make trips more comfortable and prevent vehicles from avoidable damages.
Dr. Emmanuel shared with Christian Benefit other CSR activities of Calvary Bible Church (CBC) aside the on-going Anjorin road rehabilitation by the church. “Our CSR projects have been one of our uniqueness in our community since our inception. The list of our CSR activities is too long. The list includes CBC construction of toilet facility at Idimu Police State, CBC borne-hole constructions in various streets around our community, CBC installing of street poles and street lights in various streets in our community, CBC Council Roundabout adoption and maintenance, CBC regular community welfare, CBC regular empowerment and skill acquisition programmes, CBC weekly feeding of the hungry in the past 12 years among other life-transforming and life Imparting CSR activities. We are a kingdom church. This means we are to be the salt and the light to our world. That is the drive behind our CSR activities; manifesting the kingdom,” he concluded.
