Preachers are called to demonstrate power, not to argue scriptures – Afolabi

Apostle Joshua Afolabi, the general overseer of Power Fire Chapel, has explained the significance of power in the lives of believers, saying believers are endowed by God to demonstrate power. He particularly stated that preachers are called by God to demonstrate power for salvation of souls and not to argue the scriptures; making reference to the increasing arguments by some preachers on the social media in recent times

Afolabi stated this in his sermon on the first day of the 2024 annual convention of Power Fire Chapel. Speaking on the theme of the convention, Power, he noted that great ministries are birthed by demonstrations of power for the salvation of souls.

“Great ministries were birthed by demonstrations of power for the salvation of souls. In church history, we read how the founder of The Foursquare Church stood in the air suspended beating the law of gravity. That was a demonstration of power. We also read how the founder of Christ Apostolic Church, late Apostle Ayodele Babalola demonstrated power when a snake that crawled beside him while he was on a marathon prayer and fasting on the mountain completely dried up.”

“The works of these two great servants of God are still speaking today with millions of souls trooping into their churches even long after their transition. They both demonstrated God’s power; not arguments and won millions of souls for Christ. Today, some preachers argue the scriptures on the social media. Such arguments do not win souls for Christ. It is the demonstrations of power that win souls for Christ,” Afolabi stated.

Speaking generally to all believers, Afolabi continues: “It’s not only preachers that are called by God to demonstrate the power of God. As a believer you are born again to demonstrate God’s power. You are born again to demonstrate God’s power; not to argue the scriptures. If you are not powerful you will not be useful. If you are not powerful you will not be impactful. The devil uses many believers to play football because they are unaware of their power in Christ to manifest greatness in life,” he said.

The prophetic apostle warned believers not be careless with both their spiritual and physical life. He pointed at both spiritual and physical carelessness as one of the reasons many believers cannot resist or command the devil and evil powers that confront them.

The amiable cleric therefore charged believers to seek the power of God through knowledge to be able to resist the devil and evil forces or powers. He concluded his sermon by identifying the power of knowledge, physical power, the power of tongue and the power of money aa powers every believer must seek and acquire to be able to make meaningful impacts in life.
