Prophet Dr. Moses Orogojimo, the General Overseer of Divine Call Power Bible Church, has dismissed the argument that prayers do not build a nation. He warns that if Nigerian pastors should suspend prayers for the country for just one month, the nation would collapse. He emphasises that prayer is what is sustaining Nigeria and urges Nigerians to continue praying fervently for the nation, especially in view of some of his 2026 prophecies, which he shares in the interview below with Christian Benefits. Excerpts:
From a prophet’s perspective, how do you see Nigeria’s situation today?
Nigeria is a good country and it will be better. The problem we have is not the nation itself but leadership. The economic challenges Nigeria is facing are not unique; many countries around the world are experiencing similar difficulties. However, what distinguishes stable nations is good leadership and effective economic management. For instance, President Trump recently invested heavily in the U.S. military—something that encouraged national morale. Nigeria’s major challenge remains poor economic management.
Do you think the current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met the expectations of Nigerians?
That is a question Nigerians themselves are best positioned to answer. The president once stated that if he failed in his first term, he should not be voted for again. We all experienced what happened—the fuel subsidy removal, inflation, and the economic hardship. On December 22, 2025, I prophesied that the Nigerian currency would be treated like the dollar, and I was heavily criticized. I also had a dream about a drastic increase in fuel prices, for which I received insults until it became a reality. If care is not taken, fuel prices may still rise. With good leadership, Nigeria should be refining oil locally.
What are your expectations from the next general election in Nigeria in 2027?
I prophesied that the president should be very careful because Trump does not want him as president. If Nigeria remains unstable, elections may not hold, which could keep Tinubu in power without a conventional election process. I also saw Nigeria leaning toward a single-party system. Many politicians are moving to APC to escape opposition and judgment, but they will later realize it is fruitless. With good governance, Nigeria’s economy can recover and flourish.
How would President Tinubu remain in power beyond 2027 without going through the election?
There may be a crisis capable of stopping the elections. However, we must pray against war in Nigeria and also pray for the president so he does not die in power. The 2027 elections will experience massive rigging. Flooding, intense heatwaves, rising dollar rates, destructive protests, and banking sector instability are coming. Some banks will merge; others will collapse, resulting in job losses.
What’s your take on President Donald Trump’s intervention in Nigeria’s security challenges?
If we cannot help ourselves, external help becomes necessary. America has oil and mineral resources but still trades globally. Trump’s motive may not necessarily be to take Nigeria’s oil, but any intervention must involve clear agreements. He has shown the world that he is willing to go to any length.
What prophecies have you received concerning 2026?
2026 is a narrow path leading into 2027. Nigeria may experience temporary relief ahead of the 2027 elections. The economy may slightly improve but could worsen again. We must pray against revolution—Nigeria’s revolution will not be through war but through the people, just as citizens transitioned the nation from military to democratic rule. The dollar will rise further, and there will be serious conflicts in the oil sector. The 2027 election will be very tough. Tinubu still has an opportunity to bring peace through policies. Food production remains insufficient while borders are closed. Many politicians may die suddenly; some will collapse, others may die mid-journey. The less privileged will suffer greatly. APC will experience internal collapse. Former Vice- President Atiku Abubakar will not step down.
If former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar doesn’t step down, does he stand a chance of winning the 2007 Presidential election?
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is not destined to rule Nigeria and cannot win. However, if he supports another candidate and becomes the backbone, he will emerge as a hero. There is a fear of Nigeria breaking up during a potential crisis in the country, which is why caution is necessary.
Pastor Adeboye declared 2026 a year of surplus, while some other preachers disagree to the contrary. What is your stance?
I stand by my own prophecy of hardship in Nigeria in 2026, which I have consistently shared since last year. I prophesied China’s revolution and climate change before they became global concerns.
How can Nigerians survive this “narrow path” of 2026 you earlier talked about?
Through prayer, consistency in their good endeavours, and focus. People must intensify their spiritual lives and remain disciplined.
What’s your response to the saying, “Prayers do not build a nation”?
That view reflects ignorance of what prayer truly is. Even those who do not pray Christian prayers seek spiritual help elsewhere. Religion plays a role in every nation. Sadly, fake prophets have misrepresented true spirituality. Prayer is a statement directed to a god; its effectiveness depends on who is being invoked.
How do you mean in you recent sermon that Nigeria will colllapse without prayers.
If pastors went on strike for one month, Nigeria would crumble. Many unseen intercessors are sustaining the nation spiritually. Every nation survive wars before succeeding as a nation. This doesnt exclude Nigeria if we were to succeed and move on as a nation?
But considering the Nigeria’s civil war in 1966, why is the nation still stagnant?
The war was fought against ourselves, not foreigners. We continue to fight internally, so the price has not truly been paid.
How do you feel about recent scandals involving some men of God and the public criticisms that followed the scandals?
Criticism strengthens ministers; it has always existed. However, many current allegations carry elements of truth. No pastor is perfect, but ministry driven by flesh leads to destruction. Some so-called pastors are not called. When ministry becomes a business, destinies suffer.
What lesson should pastors learn from recent controversies?
Ministers must avoid immorality, rituals, and shortcuts. Our fathers of faith were content-driven, not material-driven. Many modern leaders are inaccessible and self-centered. Ministry must not destroy destinies.
Should the government regulate the activities of Nigerian churches?
No! Government interference would likely be biased. Miracles are spiritual matters that require spiritual discernment. Controversial miracles are often misunderstood. Even Jesus was accused falsely.
What should people expect from your ministry. Divine Call Power Bible Church this year 2026?
People must return to God, prioritize Him, and obey His instructions promptly. Faith and expectancy are vital.
When a prophet during your stuggles directed you back to God to support you, when you sought his support, how did you feel?
I felt embarrassed but enlightened. Despite witnessing miracles, my life lacked structure. I withdrew for prayer and fasting, seeking clarity.
What eventually brought the breakthrough in your ministry?
The ministry is about impact, not income. God used divine connections and fulfilled a prophecy given to me in 1994 about a political figure who would assist the ministry. Though she did not give money, she opened doors and brought connections. Through her, the ministry experienced growth and influence.
