TOPIC: NO MATTER WHAT YOUR PART IS, PLAY IT WELL.
Today’s Text: Nehemiah 3:14-27.

I am sure you have read 2 Samuel 23 where the chieftains of Davidic band were listed.

Are you not surprised to find a name like that of Uriah on a list that had people like Adino the Eznite and Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite.

But Uriah did not kill any Lion neither did he kill three hundred people at once, he did not use his sword till his hand clave to the sword yet he made the list, most likely via faithfulness and loyalty.

God weighs actions according to the scriptures: “Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. 1Samuel 2:3.

He is the one that determines who is greatest and who is smallest.

Do not forget that Joab, the chief of army staff did not make the list at that time. Quite shocking!

Beloved, no matter what you are asked to do ensure you do it ‘faithfully’, that is a major ingredient in God’s indices for measuring greatness.

There is something peculiar in verse 14 and 15 of our text which I will like to point to you.

The two verses started with ‘but’. That means there was something very unusual in the verses and sure there were.

The duty in the two were not what you will describe as regular role, they were peculiar. Malchiah was to repair the DUNG gate!

This is very close to where all the dung of the animals were dumped, there would be extremely foul odour there.

I am sure not many people would like to work in such a place; it’s not the best of place to work.

Such may look like the work for the ‘low privileged’ individuals, so you will say.

I doubt it if the nobles would like to be placed in such environment.

I am sure everyone would prefer the assignment in verse 15 at the ‘fish gate’ where they would be able to have ‘fish barbecue’ all the time.

The work there will surely be easy, it has good sighting location when bored, water there also would offer freshness and the rest like that.

That looks like the nobles choice. Dear friend, God is not in that type of game, He weighs productivity through ‘faithfulness’.

Whatever you are assigned just be faithful there, be it at dung’s gate or fish fountain.

Remember the woman with the widow’s mite, she was adjudged to have contributed more than many others even with their contribution that was many times more than the widow. God weighs the heart.

Memory Verse:
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. “Ecclesiastics 9:10.

Prayer Focus:
Oh Lord my God, give me grace to fulfill my calling in life in the name of Jesus’name.

Oh Lord my God, empower my spirit to be faithful in your service in the name of Jesus.
