SANGOGADE OLUSUMBO: AN ASTUTE ADMINISTRATOR/GOSPEL BAND LEADER

2025 BAME AWARD NOMINEE: Sangogade Olusumbo Idowu was born over 50 years ago to the family of Late Chief and Mrs. Gabriel Olubisi Sangogade, the first Mogaji of Alade Abinupagun. He had his primary education at Alafia Nursery and Primary School, Mokola, Ibadan from 1973 to 1978 and secondary school education was from 1979 to 1984. He worked briefly with Federal Pay Office, Ibadan, before proceeding to The Polytechnic, Ibadan where he trained in mass communication for both the Ordinary National Diploma (OND and the Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates.

Sangogade further trained at the University of Ibadan for a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management and later Masters of Communication Arts (MCA). He joined the Oyo State Civil Service in Year 2000 as an Executive Officer and rose through the ranks with conversion to the Administrative Cadre in 2009. He is presently a Director (HAP)/Head LIPW OYS-CARES. He obtained his second Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration at Lead City University, Ibadan.

HIS RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES

After his secondary school education in 1984, Sangogade Idowu Olusumbo joined the Choir Department of Apostolic Church of Christ (ACC) and rose to become Assistant Choirmaster in 1993 and later Choirmaster in 2000. He was installed as Deacon on 10th May 1997 and Trained Elder on 17th January 2015 Sangodage Olusumbo was honored with Doctor of Music (Honorary causal) by the Disciple People for Christ School of Theology, Nigeria, on 20th November 2010 and Ajagorah Church of Christ,  Agugu,  Ibadan on 14th  November,  2010 He went on Holy Pilgrimage to Jerusalem in January 2011. He is an Associate Member of Gospel Musicians of Nigeria (GOMAN), Oyo State Chapter. Dr. Sangogade Olusumbo was ordained as a Reverend by the Church on 20th January 2024, having successfully completed the approved course of study at ACC Advanced School of Pastoral Studies. He has received various awards of excellence from different organizations and Gospel Ministries for his outstanding work in the development and promotion of God’s work as well as Gospel Music and Artistes.  He has two Gospel albums to his credit titled “OH MY DESTINY   & IGBA RERE” He is happily married and blessed with godly children.

Dr. Sangogade Idowu Olusumbo is being honored today with the 2025 Benefits Awards for Missionary Excellence (BAME Award) for Christian Service in recognition of his outstanding performance as an astute Administrator, Gospel Band leader, and also for his immense support to Christian Benefits magazine these past 25 years.
