On a certain Wednesday around 10am Christian Benefits was an unexpected visitor at a weekly fellowship of Almighty God Compassion home, Ikotun Lagos. The magazine\u2019s publisher had just walked into the fellowship in the middle of a certain beautiful woman leading powerful deliverance prayers for the inmates, social workers, partners and other staff members of the charity home. After the prayer session the woman powerfully admonished the congregation in the word of God with intermittent reading of the scriptures by the \u201ccompassion boys\u201d as the inmates of the home are called by the residents of that area of the Ikotun community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m Evang. Mrs. Mojisola Abdul, the National Coordinator, Almighty God Compassion Home, where we cater for street-wild boys, rehabilitate, empower and reintegrate them into the society. We teach them the way of God, lead them in deliverance prayers and take them through empowerment schemes to help them become useful to themselves and to the society at large. \u201cMrs. Abdul shared with Christian Benefits in an interview after the over four hours fellowship session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs. Mojisola Abdul is a successful business woman. She is the chief executive of two reputable manufacturing and importing firms; MOJEC Nigeria Limited and MOJEC oil & gas. Although she has been known for her assistance to churches, poor widows, orphans and other society\u2019s less privileged, the Ibadan Oyo state-born kind hearted woman received God\u2019s calling 17 years ago to start a non-governmental organization known today as Almighty God Compassion Home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI received the vision of the home when God showed me in a dream a beautiful home where I was teaching young boys, mostly teenagers in the range of 10-18 years old. And the Lord said to me,\u201d love these boys and bring them up for me. I<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ll restore their lives. Initially, I resisted the call until 2008 when Almighty God Compassion Home was established in Lagos as ministry,\u201d the evangelist explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shortly before the interview with Christian Benefits, Mrs. Abdul was seen by the publisher of the magazine finalizing the traveling arrangements of the compassion boys being trained by Almighty Compassion Home to play professional football at home and abroad. The parents of two of the boys being trained and prepared by the home for a professional football career overseas participated at the fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSome of our boys are on the scholarship of the home as students of Osun State University, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education. The Polytechnic, Ibadan. Some are in secondary school. Apart from sponsoring their education, we also assist those that are talented or skilled in some areas to develop their talents towards becoming self-employed. We have a coach that trains some of the compassion boys instance in football. Some of the boys we have trained in various vocations like burglary, welding, arts & crafts, fashion designs, chemical production, barbing, music I.T, computer etc are now self-employed. Some of them are gainfully employed in my companies, \u201cMrs. Mojisola Abdul disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Almighty God Compassion Home occupies a four-flat two storey building as residence of compassion boys and social workers in the home. The building is a daily beehive of training\/skill acquisition activities. The magazine noticed some of the boys undergoing computer training while some others were seen at different other vocational training sessions within the premises. Mrs. Abdul explained that most of the boys are victims of broken families, bad influence or from abject poverty homes that their parents or guardians cannot provide their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSome of the boys are from poor parents. Some of them walked out of their homes willfully. I had a similar experience when I was a young girl in secondary school. A strange spirit came upon me to walk out, but my mother was prayerful and it didn\u2019t happen. Some of them are victims of spiritual attacks. Some of them came to the streets trough bad influence. Some of them are victims of maltreatment by their guardians; some of the boys are orphans that have no helpers. There several other reasons why we brought some of the boys from the street to rehabilitate and empower them in the home. We appeal to the parents of some of the boy that willfully left homes and reconcile them to their parents after their successful rehabilitation in the home.\u201d Mrs. Abdul disclosed to Christian Benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, these efforts do not come by any little means. According to the National Coordinator of the home that has another branch in Ibadan with 20 boys under rehabilitation, empowerment, and reintegration at the Ibadan branch, the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) spends hundreds of thousands on \u201crestoring, transforming, and regenerating\u201d the compassion boys in its care. Although, Mrs. Abdul commits her personal resources in the running of the organization, she acknowledges the contribution of the partners of the organization whom she paid glowing attributes for what she describes as \u201ctheir immense support of the home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her words: \u201cThe funding of the Almighty God Compassion Home has been by the grace of God. I have no power of my own to do it. We have not received a kobo for any government to fund our programmes. The only thing we have ever received from any government is 10 bags of beans from the Lagos State Government. However, some churches and public spirited individuals have been assisting us. We also receive support from friends and family members that are impressed with what we are doing. I have been running this home for seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201dI spend approximately N800,000 monthly in running the home. Apart from my personal financial commitment, we have partners that support us financially. They are convinced by what we are doing here and entrusts us their funds. We are duly registered and recognized by the federal government of Nigeria. We submit reports of our activities regularly to the Lagos State Government. We also register our activities with the Nigerian Police because we bring most of the boys from the streets and motor parks. We regularly go on street evangelism and in the process reach-out to streetwise boys and bring them into the home for rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe started from Kuramo Beach where we brought about 80 boys into the home and transformed the lives of most of them. We talked to them, ministered spiritual things to them and showed the way to a better and glorious future for them to follow. We showed them love; told them God loves them and will forgive their sins. We showed them to path to repentance of r a new life. Of course, some of the boys returned t the streets after a while but those of them that stayed are rehabilitated. Some of them are presently working in my factory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of them is a very good. He uses gangan (talking drum) to talk. We put him is primary school. He is now waiting to go to the university. We commit ourselves to lots of prayer and fasting in rehabilitating these boys. Whenever I see changes in the lives f the boys that have been rehabilitated in the home, my joy is always full. When God told me to go build Hi, a nation, it is now I realize these boys are the nations God has sent me to build. We have a resident pastor that ministers to their lives as well as social workers that work on their rehabilitation<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Evang. Mrs. Mojisola Abdul describes the transformation of the lives of the compassion boys and in the home as sole responsibility of God, explaining that it God that gives them a new heart when they come to the all-boys welfare home. She added that God has granted her wisdom and grace to relate with all the boys with equal love without any discrimination with regards to their different religious background. \u2018The spirit f God works in the home. I always encourage them to love one another because love does not discriminate according to 1Corinthinas 13.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe boys are from different states, tribes and religions. We live together as one big family. There are Muslims among them. They join us in Christian prayers and Bible Study. I am from a Muslim background too. I was a devout practicing Muslim before I gave my life to Christ. I am still happily married to a very devout Muslim. God is interested in our doing his wills. A Christian that doesn\u2019t do the will of God will end up in hell fire.\u201d The kind-hearted woman of God explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chief executive of MOJEC Nigeria LTD and MOJEC oil & gas dedicates every Wednesday to personally minister to the boys and also ensures they worship very Sunday at the church arm of Almighty God Compassion Ministry; a stone throw from the home. The business tycoon says she enjoys God\u2019s grace to combine her vast businesses with the responsibilities the charity home and the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen God calls you, He makes provision of money and time for your convenience. Whenever I\u2019m in Lagos, I dedicate every Wednesday to minister to the boys for at least five hours, where we share the word of God together, pray together and ask questions on their development in the home. I\u2019m also with the boys at the home every Sunday morning to minister to them before attending the church. We have never gone to the streets begging people for support. God has always been providing for our needs through our partners with their immense support to the home. We also use every Wednesday to pray for all our partners, \u201cthe amiable woman of God concluded as she finally encouraged other privileged individuals and successful business people to support the society less privileged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
