The General Overseer of Divine Appointment Ministry International, Rev. Ben Eragbai, has urged Christians to remain steadfast in God amid life’s challenges, saying that obstacles can become stepping stones to promotion, breakthrough and divine repositioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eragbai gave the admonition while ministering at the thanksgiving service of the just-concluded 2026 Mega Grace Convention (MGC) of the church, held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at its headquarters in Ajah, Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on the challenges people encounter in the course of life’s journey, the cleric said difficulties could discourage people from fulfilling their destinies, but urged believers not to abandon their pursuits because of temporary setbacks.According to him, some obstacles are not intended to destroy people but to reposition them for greater opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Every time you see an obstacle, it means there’s something good on the other end,\u201d he said, urging Christians to hold on to God rather than allow challenges to make them question His faithfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n

Using the biblical account of Saul’s search for his father’s missing donkeys as an illustration, Eragbai explained that what initially appeared to be a problem eventually became the pathway to Saul’s encounter with Samuel and his anointing as Israel’s first king.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that believers must learn to recognise opportunities in difficult situations and exercise discernment in deciding whom to approach for counsel and assistance.The cleric also emphasised the importance of wisdom, explaining that determination alone might not be sufficient to overcome life’s challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing experiences from his ministry and travels, Eragbai recounted how he once desired the freedom to travel internationally after seeing a man who had flown in from France and returned there because he had forgotten to purchase a particular perfume.He said he prayed to God for the opportunity to travel freely, adding that God eventually granted his desire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eragbai also narrated an encounter at an airport where he faced an immigration challenge while travelling to the United States with a visa issued by another country. According to him, an immigration official initially questioned his eligibility to travel but later changed her position after meeting him.He said the woman remarked that he resembled her bishop and asked whether he was a man of God. Eragbai responded humorously that if they looked alike, the bishop must be his brother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cleric said the woman subsequently vouched for him, facilitated his entry and provided him with further assistance for future travels. He attributed the experience to divine intervention and stressed that wisdom and faith could help believers navigate difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further maintained that the manifestation of God’s anointing should be assessed by its results rather than outward appearances or human exertion.\u201cWe don’t see anointing, but we can only see what anointing can do,\u201d he said, adding that hard work and visible effort should not be mistaken for the manifestation of God’s power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eragbai also recounted an experience from the early days of his ministry in Ilupeju, Lagos, when, according to him, a church leader who had become angry over the miracles taking place in his ministry approached him about taking over his congregation.He said he declined the offer, explaining that he believed people should allow God to determine the timing and manner of their advancement.\u201cWhen it’s your set time, nobody can stop you,\u201d he said, encouraging believers not to become discouraged by opposition or the apparent success of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing lessons from the life of David, the preacher explained that victory in one battle did not necessarily mean the end of all struggles. He encouraged Christians to remain prayerful and discerning even after experiencing breakthroughs.Referring to the biblical account of David and his men at Ziklag,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eragbai highlighted the importance of pursuing lost opportunities, overtaking obstacles and recovering what had been lost.He observed that while people might possess the strength to pursue their goals, recovering lost ground could require the help of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cleric therefore urged believers to cultivate humility, generosity and compassion, citing Matthew 5:7, which says, \u201cBlessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.\u201dHe also referenced John 3:16 to underscore the principle of giving, maintaining that a generous disposition and willingness to help others were important in the journey towards restoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, Christians should not become proud or look down on others, as those who needed help today might be in a position to assist others tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eragbai further underscored the importance of mentorship and spiritual guidance, advising Christians to maintain healthy relationships with their spiritual leaders.\u201cYou either have a mentor or a tormentor,\u201d he said, stressing that believers needed godly mentors who could provide direction, correction and support when necessary.He added that Christians should recognise the value of spiritual fathers and remain receptive to correction, regardless of their achievements or positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General Overseer also challenged church members to demonstrate the transformative impact of Christianity through their conduct, observing that the purpose of the church should extend beyond gathering for worship to producing lives that reflect Christian values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged believers to relate positively with their spiritual leaders and contribute meaningfully to the fulfilment of the church’s mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding his message, Eragbai encouraged Christians not to despise anyone or become distracted by circumstances, but to remain focused on God’s purpose for their lives.He maintained that every meaningful breakthrough might require people to overcome barriers, urging them to remain steadfast in faith until they reach their destinations.\u201cFor any good thing to come to you, you have to cross the barrier,\u201d he said, reiterating his message that challenges, when approached with faith, wisdom and perseverance, could become opportunities for growth and advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
