You won the election. That is the essence of democracy.” He also urged him to pursue reconciliation, unity and stability in the state rather than stigmatise or victimise his political opponents.

According to Adebayo, the President’s message was particularly significant because political victory should not be treated as a conquest over fellow citizens, but as a mandate to serve the entire people.

The RECAP’S President further urged Governor Adeleke to consider joining the APC, arguing that his political future and the development of Osun State could benefit from a constructive relationship with the Federal Government.

He said Governor Adeleke should not allow the bitterness and antagonism that characterised the election campaign to define his relationship with the Presidency.

“The election is over. What Osun needs now is development, cooperation and a strong relationship with the Federal Government. Governor Adeleke has won the mandate; he should now use the opportunity to build bridges rather than walls,” Adebayo said.

He added that Governor Adeleke’s decision to work with the President would not diminish his electoral victory, but could enhance his capacity to attract greater federal support and position Osun State for accelerated development.

The RECAP’S President also commended Governor Adeleke for publicly acknowledging that President Tinubu called to congratulate him shortly after the election and for subsequently visiting the President at the State House to present his Certificate of Return.

Adebayo said the governor’s gesture demonstrated that political differences should not permanently destroy relationships among leaders and citizens.

He also urged Governor Adeleke to rise above the politics of bitterness and resist the temptation to use his victory to avenge perceived wrongs committed against him or his party.

“Political victory should not become an instrument of revenge. The people have given the governor another mandate to serve, and he should use it to unite Osun and advance the interests of all its citizens,” he said.

The RECAP President also commended the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic franchise and voting according to their convictions.

He noted that the electorate demonstrated that political power ultimately belongs to the people, notwithstanding allegations and claims of financial and material inducements, intimidation and other irregularities that characterised the election campaign.

According to Adebayo, the outcome should serve as a reminder to political parties and politicians that Nigerian voters are becoming increasingly conscious of their electoral power and cannot be taken for granted.

He urged political actors to respect the electorate and embrace issue-based campaigns rather than relying on inducements, intimidation or divisive rhetoric.

The RECAP’S President called for a new political relationship between Osun State and the Federal Government, urging Governor Adeleke to see his victory as an opportunity to promote reconciliation, cooperation and development.

He equally urged Governor Adeleke and the people of Osun State to consider supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC as the country moves towards the 2027 presidential election.

Adebayo said such cooperation would not amount to abandoning political principles, but would provide an opportunity for Osun State to work constructively with the Federal Government in attracting development and opportunities to the state.

He further called on Christians, particularly members of Aladura churches, to become more actively involved in Nigeria’s political process.

“RECAP believes that Christians should participate actively and responsibly in politics, not merely to seek political positions, but to influence governance, promote good leadership and contribute to the development of Nigeria,” Adebayo stated.

He said RECAP would continue to expand its political engagement across the country and provide a platform through which members of the Aladura community could participate meaningfully in Nigeria’s democratic process.

The RECAP’S President described the 2027 election as an important opportunity for Nigerians to make informed choices based on competence, character, performance, national unity and the capacity to provide purposeful leadership.

He called on political leaders to use the period leading to 2027 to build bridges across party, religious, ethnic and regional divides, stressing that Nigeria’s development should remain the ultimate objective of political participation.

The National President of the Renewal Congress of Aladura Churches in Politics (RECAP), Pastor Professor Adeniyi Adebayo, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the recent Osun State governorship election, describing the outcome as a reflection of the will of the people.
