Ten years after the passing of the founding General Overseer of Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI), Bishop Dr. Abiodun Alani Olugbenro, the ministry continues to flourish under the leadership of his widow and successor, Rev. Olasunkami Olugbenro-Akinseye.

In this exclusive interview with Christian Benefits Magazine, she reflects on her late husband’s enduring legacy, the significance of his 10th memorial anniversary, the challenges of leading the ministry from the United States, and the vision behind this year’s 2026 Rainbow Convention of the church themed “El Rachum – The Merciful God.” She also shares her expectations for the convention and her vision for the future global expansion of the ministry. How would you like us to introduce you?

Thank you very much, sir. My name is Rev. Olasunkami Olugbenro-Akinseye. By the grace of God, I serve as the General Overseer of Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI, also known as People of Comfort). I am a servant of God with a passion for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and teaching the Word in a simple and practical way. Through the ministry, God has given me the privilege of reaching individuals and families with the message of hope, salvation, healing, and restoration. I also have a passion for using different platforms, including Christian drama and the media, to share the Gospel and touch lives beyond the walls of the church.

What does this 10th memorial anniversary of the passing of your late husband and the founding General Overseer of Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI), Bishop Dr. Abioldun Alani Olugbenro, personally mean to you?

This 10th memorial anniversary of my late husband and the founding General Overseer of Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI), Bishop Dr. Abiodun Alani Olugbenro, means so much to me. It is a time of deep reflection, gratitude, and thanksgiving to God.

Ten years may seem like a long time, but the memories of my late husband and founder of Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI) remain fresh in my heart. Personally, I remember him as a loving husband, a devoted servant of God, and a man who gave his life completely to the work of the Kingdom of God. He had a genuine passion for soul-winning, helping people, and teaching the Word of God with sincerity. His life was a testimony of faith, sacrifice, and obedience to God’s calling.

Of course, losing him was one of the most difficult moments of my life. But through God’s grace, strength, and comfort, I have learned that though God’s servant may leave this earth, the work of God continues. The vision God gave him did not end with his passing. By God’s mercy, that vision is still alive today, and we will continue to build on the foundation he laid.

The memorial is not only about remembering his departure; it is about celebrating a life that was well lived in Christ Jesus. It is also an opportunity to thank God for everyone whose life has been touched through the ministry he founded.

Personally, I feel honoured to continue the assignment, even in his absence. I believe the greatest way to honour his memory is not just by speaking about him but by remaining faithful to the vision—preaching the Gospel, loving the people, and serving God wholeheartedly.

Why was “El Rachum – The Merciful God” chosen as the theme of this year’s 2026 Rainbow Convention of the church?

The theme,”El Rachum;”that is, The Merciful God, was chosen for this year’s convention because I strongly believe that we are living in a time when people need to experience God’s mercy more than ever before.

El Rachum is a Hebrew expression that means “The Merciful God.” It reminds us that mercy is one of God’s greatest attributes. Throughout the Bible, we see God showing mercy to people even when they did not deserve it. His mercy brings forgiveness, restoration, healing, hope, and a new beginning.

At this time in which we are living, we see many people carrying heavy burdens. Some are struggling with sickness, financial difficulties, broken homes, disappointments, fears, and uncertainties. Others are burdened by past mistakes and feel they are beyond God’s forgiveness. The message God has placed in our hearts is that His mercy is still available to everyone who comes to Him.

This theme, by the special grace of God, is also personal to us as a ministry. Looking back over these ten years since the passing of our founder, we can boldly say that it has been God’s mercy that has sustained us. His mercy has kept Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI), strengthened us through difficult times, and allowed the ministry to continue fulfilling its purpose.

We want everyone attending the convention to understand that no matter where they are in life, God’s mercy can reach them. His mercy is greater than every failure, fear, and challenge we face.

Our prayer is that everyone who attends this convention will not only hear about God’s mercy but will personally experience it. We believe lives will be transformed, hearts will be restored, prayers will be answered, and people will leave with testimonies of God’s goodness and compassion.

How has MOSMI grown since Bishop Olugbenro’s passing ten years ago?

First of all, I want to give all the glory to God because it is only by His grace that Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI) has continued to grow over these past ten years. When our founder, Bishop Abiodun Alani Olugbenro, went home to be with the Lord, it was a very difficult season for the church and for me personally. Many wondered what would happen to the ministry, but we held firmly to God’s promises. By His grace, He has remained faithful to us and has continued to preserve the vision He gave His servant.

What leadership challenges have you faced as General Overseer?

Stepping into the shoes of my late husband as General Overseer of Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI) was one of the greatest responsibilities I have ever received. It was a season of personal grief, but at the same time I had the responsibility of encouraging the church and ensuring that the vision of the ministry continued.

One of the greatest challenges has been leading the ministry from the Diaspora. As you are aware, I currently live in the United States (U.S.), while the church is based in Lagos, Nigeria. Humanly speaking, many would wonder how that could ever happen. But I have seen that distance is not a limitation when God is leading the work.

It has required a great deal of prayer, wisdom, effective communication, and great trust in the faithful pastors, ministers, and church leaders on the ground whom God has given to me in Lagos and in our other branches. We work as one team, always seeking the face of God for direction in the decisions we make. Although we may be in different locations, we are united by one vision, one purpose, and one mission—to glorify God and build His Kingdom.

Of course, there have been challenges. Living across different time zones and coordinating ministry activities while making important decisions from another country require commitment and discipline. But I will tell you that technology has also been a great blessing.

Many times, I wake up in the middle of the night because, most of the time, when I have meetings with the team in Lagos, I would either be at work or have to sacrifice my sleep. Sometimes I wake up at 2:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m. just to hold meetings with them.

Above all, I have learned that the church belongs to Jesus Christ. He is the true Head of the Church. Whether we are physically present or serving from another location, what matters most is obedience to God. Faithful leadership is about having a heart that is committed to God’s people.

Looking back over these ten years, I can confidently say that God has been faithful. He has continued to sustain the ministry. Two years ago, we dedicated our Ipaja branch. It is a model branch that is growing graciously to the glory of God.

I am deeply grateful to all the servants of God whom God has given to work with me in the ministry. I know some may have their own challenges, but I still have many faithful ones. I thank God for their commitment, which has been a great blessing. Together with them, we continue to uphold the vision that God gave to our late Bishop, Bishop Abiodun Alani Olugbenro.

What enduring legacy did Bishop Olugbenro leave for the Church?

Bishop Abiodun Alani Olugbenro’s greatest legacy, as most people know, was a life completely devoted to God and His Kingdom. He believed that ministry is about serving God, serving and helping people, and allowing them to experience the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

One of his greatest legacies is the solid foundation of the Word of God. He taught that the Bible should be our guide in every area of our lives. He encouraged people to live holy lives, trust God completely, and remain steadfast in prayer regardless of the challenges they faced.

Another legacy I would like to mention is his heart for people. He was a compassionate shepherd who cared deeply for both the spiritual and physical well-being of others. Even today, members of the congregation will tell you how much they still miss Bishop. He was always giving to people. The late Bishop was an extraordinary giver. He made time to pray for people, encourage them, and point them to Christ. He believed that every soul matters.

As a ministry, we are committed to preserving those values. We continue to preach the uncompromising Word of God, win souls for Christ, raise disciples for Him, and serve our community.

I remember that two years ago, we distributed food items, clothing, offered free medical care, and did so much more for people in our community. Many people came from far and near. I was even surprised that some came all the way from Ikorodu and Yaba to Maryland just to receive food items.

Personally, I am grateful to God for the example he set—not only as my husband, but also as a pastor, mentor, and servant of God. His life reminds us that true success is not measured by how long we live but by how faithfully we fulfil God’s purpose.

I believe his legacy will continue to live on. His legacy will continue to transform lives, and we will continue to nurture what he left behind. I pray that God will continue to give us the grace to follow in his footsteps, in Jesus’ name.

What should participants expect during this year’s Rainbow Convention?

I believe everyone who attends this year’s Rainbow Convention should come with an open heart and great expectations because, by the special grace of God, we are trusting Him to do wonderful things in the lives of His people.

As we all know, the theme of this year’s convention is “El Rachum – The Merciful God.” Throughout the convention, we shall be focusing on the mercy of God—how His mercy forgives, restores, heals, delivers, and gives people a fresh beginning. As we all know, it is by His mercy that we are not consumed. It is only by His mercy.

Participants should expect a powerful time of worship and heartfelt prayers. There will also be sound biblical teachings and inspiring messages. There will be abundant praise by the special grace of God. We are trusting God to touch lives, restore hope, and draw people into a deeper relationship with Him.

This convention is not just for Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI); it is open to everyone. We are expecting old members, colleagues, friends, family members, ministries, ministers, and everyone who desires a fresh encounter with God. Whether someone has been walking with God for many years or is just searching for hope, they are all welcome.

We also believe that this convention will be a time of spiritual renewal. Many people are carrying heavy burdens. There is so much happening around the world, and many are facing difficult situations. We are praying that they will leave encouraged, strengthened, and more confident in God’s mercy and faithfulness.

My prayer is that everyone who attends will experience God’s presence in a personal way. More than anything else, I believe people will leave knowing God more deeply and trusting Him more completely.

So, I am using this opportunity to invite everyone to join us. Come with faith and expectation. Come believing that the God of mercy is still at work today. I look forward to welcoming each and every one of you. You are also welcome, sir. God bless you.

What spiritual impact do you expect from this year’s convention?

By the special grace of God, our expectation for this year’s convention is that God will bring about genuine spiritual transformation in the life of everyone who attends.

Our desire, by God’s grace, is not just for people to gather for a programme, but for every participant to have a personal encounter with God. Since our theme is “El Rachum – The Merciful God,” we are trusting God that people will experience His mercy in a personal way.

We believe many will receive renewed hope, restoration, healing from broken hearts, and a deeper understanding of God’s love and compassion. I expect this year’s convention, by the special grace of God, to strengthen people’s faith and draw them closer to God. I also expect to see genuine spiritual growth by God’s grace.

Another area we are trusting God for is the restoration of destinies. We believe many people will be blessed. Beyond individual blessings, we are praying for greater revival within the Church, a renewed passion for God, and a stronger commitment to serving Him faithfully.

What is your vision for MOSMI’s future global expansion?

By God’s grace, our vision for the future of Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI) is to continue spreading the message of Jesus Christ and impacting lives wherever God opens doors.

We believe that the assignment God has given this ministry is bigger than one location or one nation. Although Mountain of Solution Ministries International (MOSMI) began in Nigeria, the Gospel has no geographical boundaries.

Our desire is to see the message of hope, faith, restoration, and God’s comfort preached across different nations and cultures. By God’s grace, we are looking to the future with a vision to continue raising disciples for Jesus Christ and developing godly leaders who will carry the Gospel with integrity and compassion.

For us, global expansion is not merely about establishing church branches in different countries. It is about raising people who will genuinely know Christ, grow in His Word, demonstrate His love, and become faithful ambassadors of His Kingdom wherever they are. We also desire to use every available platform—including missions, media, technology, and other outreach opportunities—to reach more souls for Christ and fulfil the Great Commission.

Above all, we remain committed to following God’s leading. We believe that as He opens doors, He will also provide the grace, wisdom, and resources needed to fulfil the vision He has entrusted to Mountain of Solution Ministries International. Our prayer is that, through this ministry, many more lives across the nations of the world will come to know Jesus Christ, experience His mercy, and be transformed for His glory.
