The Lagos State Chapter of the Renewal Congress of Aladura & Celestial Churches in Politics (RECAP) has intensified efforts to encourage members of White Garment Churches to embrace responsible civic engagement and value-driven political participation as part of its mission to promote national transformation.

As part of the initiative, the organisation will host a Sensitisation and Mobilisation Conference for All White Garment Churches on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, under the theme, “Let It Shine” (Isaiah 60:1).

The programme is designed as a prayer conference for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and the nation, while also serving as a platform to educate believers on their civic responsibilities and participation in governance.

Speaking in an interview with Christian Benefits Magazine, the Chairman of RECAP Lagos State Chapter, Barrister Bada Emmanuel Oladipupo, described the movement as a divine mandate established to bridge the gap between faith and responsible citizenship.

According to him, RECAP is not merely an association but a faith-based civic and political advocacy movement founded on the conviction that the Church must become a positive force in nation-building.

“For too long, many believers have withdrawn from the process of governance while praying for better leadership. Prayer must be accompanied by responsible civic engagement, leadership development, and active participation in the democratic process,” he said.

Barrister Bada explained that the organisation’s slogan, “From the Altar to the Nation,” reflects its commitment to producing believers whose worship, integrity, righteousness, and commitment to God will influence governance and public service.

“Our worship should prepare us to transform the nation. The altar prepares us for the nation, making the nation our mission field,” he added.

The RECAP chairman stressed that the movement does not seek political privileges but is committed to promoting justice, peace, equity, good governance, and national development through biblical principles.

He said the organisation’s vision is to unite members of White Garment Churches under a common platform for civic enlightenment, political education, leadership development, and national transformation.

“We seek to raise men and women whose integrity cannot be bought, whose convictions cannot be compromised, and whose ultimate loyalty is first to God and then to the service of humanity,” he stated.

Barrister Bada expressed confidence that believers possess the numerical strength, intellectual capacity, and spiritual influence to shape governance positively.

“We envision every arm of government functioning effectively, young people emerging as transformational leaders, women occupying strategic leadership positions, and the White Garment Churches speaking with one united voice on issues of national importance,” he said.

Addressing concerns about the Church’s involvement in politics, the RECAP chairman maintained that while the Church, as an institution, should remain non-partisan in proclaiming the Gospel, counselling leaders, and praying for those in authority, individual Christians have constitutional rights and civic responsibilities to participate in governance.

“Without the members, there can be no Church. Every Christian has the constitutional right to participate in the democratic process. RECAP simply encourages value-driven political participation so that believers can influence governance in line with biblical principles of justice, truth, righteousness, love, hope, and compassion,” he explained.

On the widespread perception that politics is a dirty game, he acknowledged that political apathy remains a major challenge among Christians, including members of White Garment Churches.

According to him, many politicians lose focus after attaining office, placing personal interests above the welfare of the people.

“I believe this challenge is fundamentally spiritual because the spiritual controls the physical. Having identified the root of the problem, RECAP is determined, by the grace of God, to confront political apathy through sustained prayer, civic enlightenment, and educational programmes,” he said.

Barrister Bada described the July 30 Prayer Summit as one of the practical steps towards awakening believers to their civic responsibilities while encouraging them to remain faithful to biblical values.

The conference will feature ministers including His Eminence Baba Aladura, Dr. Oladipupo Okeyomi (Carry Go), and Venerable Superior Evangelist Tosho Oshoffa.

The keynote address will be delivered by Hon. Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamgboye, Chairman Emeritus of Mushin Local Government Area and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Mushin/Odi-Olowo LGA.

Dignitaries expected at the programme include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Pastor Prof. Adebayo Adeniji, National President of RECAP, and Primate Dr. Prof. Dare Akindele, Leader of the Aladura & Celestial Ecumenical Movement International (MMI).

The organisers expressed optimism that the conference would inspire greater participation by Christians in nation-building, strengthen the role of faith communities in promoting righteous leadership, and contribute to sustainable national development.
