The Appeal of Order in a Time of Spiritual Decline: The Grail Message Attraction
Sometimes, when I observe the rampant immorality, reckless excesses, and unchecked pursuit of worldly ambitions in many churches today, I find myself drawn to the Grail Message movement because of the orderliness, simplicity, and apparent selflessness of many of its members.
It is understandable to be attracted to a community that appears disciplined, orderly, and selfless, especially when one is disillusioned by what is happening in many churches.
However, I also remind myself that no movement or denomination should replace a careful examination of truth.
While the conduct of its members may be commendable, every teaching must ultimately be tested against the Scriptures.
Character and order are admirable, but they are not, by themselves, proof of doctrinal truth.
Therefore, any movement—whether the Grail Message or any other—should be evaluated first and foremost by its faithfulness to the Word of God.
