The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected Bishop Oscar Okwudili Ossai as its senatorial candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District ahead of the forthcoming general election.

Ossai emerged victorious in the party’s keenly contested primary election held at the NDC Nsukka Zonal Office, with delegates and party faithful from the six Local Government Areas of the district participating in the exercise.

In his acceptance speech shortly after the election, Ossai described his emergence as a humbling experience and dedicated the victory to God, the people of Enugu North, and the late Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea, whose passing he said marked a defining moment in the district’s political history.

According to him, the primary election demonstrated the unity, discipline, and democratic spirit within the NDC family.

“I stand humbled and profoundly honored to have been elected the candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress for Enugu North Senatorial District,” he stated.

He commended the National Secretariat of the party, represented by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comrade Eunice Atujide, for conducting what he described as a credible and transparent process.

Ossai also praised the leadership of the party in Enugu State, particularly the State Chairman, Engr. Obeta Ibuchukwu, and members of the State Working Committee for their steadfastness and commitment to the party.

The senatorial candidate expressed appreciation to party stakeholders and supporters across the district for their overwhelming support, noting that the victory belonged to all the people of Enugu North who desire credible and people-oriented representation.

Calling for unity among party members and stakeholders, Ossai urged supporters to rally behind the mandate as the party prepares for the general election.

He pledged to uphold the legacy of the late Senator Okey Ezea and work towards restoring the voice, dignity, and influence of Enugu North in the 10th Senate of the National Assembly.

“I reaffirm my pledge to serve with integrity, represent with distinction, and govern with transparency,” he said.

He further called on party faithful to remain united, focused, and determined as the journey toward the general election begins.

Victory Statement

Today, I stand humbled and profoundly honored to have been elected the candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in the keenly contested primary election for Enugu North Senatorial District.

This mandate comes at a defining moment in our history—following the passing of our revered leader, the late Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea, whose legacy of service continues to inspire us.

The primary, held at the Nsukka Zonal Office and attended by party faithful from all six (6) Local Government Areas of the Senatorial District, was a resounding demonstration of unity, discipline, and democratic spirit within the NDC family.

My gratitude goes to the National Secretariat, ably represented by Comr. Eunice Atujide, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, for ensuring a credible and transparent process. I also thank our State Chairman, Engr. Obeta Ibuchukwu, and the entire State Working Committee for their steadfast leadership. To the stakeholders and party faithful who turned out en masse to affirm this mandate—your support is deeply appreciated.

This victory belongs not to me alone, but to every man, woman, and youth of Enugu North who yearns for credible, accessible, and people-centered representation.

As we look ahead, I call on all stakeholders and party members to unite behind this mandate. Together, we will safeguard and advance the legacy of Ideke, and work to restore Enugu North’s voice, dignity, and influence in the 10th Senate.

I dedicate this victory first to Almighty God, then to the memory of Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea, and to the good people of Enugu North Senatorial District. I reaffirm my pledge to you: to serve with integrity, to represent with distinction, and to govern with transparency.

The journey to the general election begins now. Let us move forward—united, focused, and determined.
