CAPA Holds Summit on Child Protection from Sexual Aggressors

A child-focused advocacy organisation, Campaign Against Pedophilia Africa (CAPA), has announced plans to hold a major enlightenment summit aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation in Lagos State.

The one-day programme, themed “Child Protection from Sexual Aggressors,” is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Effortswill Academy, Iyana-Ejigbo, Ejigbo, Lagos, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

According to the organisers, the summit is part of CAPA’s broader mission to educate and empower children against the growing menace of sexual predators and child abuse across Nigeria.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Executive Director of CAPA, Dr. Wole Olarinde, said the organisation remains committed to safeguarding the future of African children through advocacy, enlightenment, and socio-psychological intervention programmes.

He explained that the initiative would involve a series of educational campaigns targeted at pupils and students in primary and secondary schools, as well as children and youth hubs nationwide.

Dr. Olarinde noted that the increasing cases of child molestation, harassment, exploitation, and abuse in different parts of the country necessitated urgent and sustained awareness efforts.

“The programmes are designed to educate innocent children on how to identify, guard against, prevent, and protect themselves from falling victim to sexual predators whose activities have become increasingly alarming,” he said.

The summit will feature lectures and interactive sessions focusing on child safety, warning signs of abuse, preventive measures, and avenues for seeking help.

Among speakers expected at the event are Dr. Wole Olarinde, Executive Director of CAPA; Dele Oyeleru, who will speak on “Upholding Purity Amid the Pedophilia Threat”; and Funmi Ademola, who will deliver a lecture titled “Pedophilia Threats: The Red Flags and Escape Routes.”

Organisers disclosed that over 250 school children are expected to participate in the maiden edition of the enlightenment summit.

CAPA urged parents, teachers, guardians, and stakeholders in child welfare to support efforts aimed at protecting African children from sexual aggressors and other forms of exploitation.
