God’s Mercy Revival Ministries (GOMERM) is set to hold the 2026 edition of its annual Covenant Day programme, a highly anticipated Easter gathering dedicated to spiritual renewal, covenant blessings, and divine encounters.
The Covenant Day programme, a flagship event of the ministry, celebrates the resurrection power of Jesus Christ while activating covenant promises in the lives of believers. Over the years, it has evolved into a dynamic platform for healing, deliverance, restoration, and renewed hope, attracting thousands of participants from across Nigeria and beyond.
The event is held annually at Mercy Campground, Km 4, Papa Lanto Road, off Sagamu–Ibadan Expressway, Ofada, Ogun State, and continues to record massive attendance each year.
According to a release by its media consultant, Dr. Wole Olarinde, God’s Mercy Revival Ministries (GOMERM)’s Covenant Day 2026, will take place on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, under the theme: *“God of Sudden Answer: Time for Radical Divine Intervention.”* The event will feature powerful ministrations of deliverance, healing, restoration, and revival by the General Overseer, Dr. James Akanbi, with Tobi Akuraku as the guest artist.

Reflecting on previous editions, Dr. James Akanbi has consistently emphasised the unchanging nature of God’s covenant power. At the 2025 edition, themed “Covenant Power: Resurrection of Hope,” he reaffirmed that Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever, assuring participants of greater miracles and life-transforming encounters. He noted that the resurrection power of Christ remains the foundation for renewed hope, breakthrough, and supernatural intervention in the lives of believers.
In a recent media interview ahead of the Covenant Day 2026, Dr. Akanbi shared his perspectives on Nigeria’s socio-political and economic realities, as well as pathways for national development.
Speaking on leadership, he explained: “The righteous system is different from the unrighteous system. The government and governance of the Church is based on Righteousness and Scriptural Principles while that of the world is often built on compromise and maintained through various forms of deception which they call diplomacy.”
He further elaborated that spiritual leadership is driven by divine calling and empowered by grace:
“When there is a calling, grace follows, and grace makes things easier to achieve. It resolves difficulties, stabilises turbulent situations, and makes the impossible possible. When grace rests upon a calling, God can subdue nations and elevate individuals, even to positions of national leadership.”
Addressing the issue of capital punishment for banditry, Dr. Akanbi affirmed that the Church upholds the doctrine of grace and repentance:
“As a Church, we cannot recommend capital punishment because of the opportunity that grace offers to everyone, including bandits, to repent. Grace is powerful—it can transform a person completely. A bandit today can become a changed person tomorrow. Why impose permanent punishment where there is still room for repentance?”
He also stressed the importance of law enforcement and justice in maintaining societal order:
“Every society must have rules and sanctions for offenders; otherwise, it risks descending into chaos. While grace provides an avenue for repentance, the law must still be upheld. Unfortunately, Nigeria’s challenge lies in poor enforcement of existing laws, particularly within the judicial system. When justice is not effectively administered, it creates room for more crime.”
