Bishop Dr. Chidi Anthony, the newly appointed National President of Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) has unveiled his plans and vision for the police fellowship, which include intensifying revival programmes aimed at winning more souls within the ranks of the Nigeria Police.

Bishop Anthony, who is also the Founder and General Overseer of Kings-in-Christ Power Ministry, was installed as National President of Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) at the 8th Biannual Convention in Ibadan, on February 12, 2026, signifying a fresh chapter of faith and service.

In this interview with Christian Benefits magazine, the bishop also shares his views on the Nigerian Police, security concerns, and his long-standing relationship with the force. Excerpts:

How do you feel about your elevated position?

I’m very happy. In fact, I give all the glory to God; it is the Lord’s doing. When God wants to elevate a man, He does not take permission from anybody. I am grateful and honoured to find myself serving in the office of the president.

What is Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) all about?

The Nigeria Police has different churches and fellowships within its community. CPFN is a combination of all the Christian faithful from these churches and fellowships within the police community. The aim is to bring the gospel and increase revival within the police community.

What are some of the major programs or activities of the fellowship?

We hold quarterly fellowships where we gather together in unity. We also carry out regular evangelism both within and outside the police community. Many people think all police officers are bad. I once had the same perception from afar until I came closer to the police and realized that not all officers are bad. CPFN is an arm within the police community aimed at bringing the Gospel and spiritual revival to officers and their families.

Share with us how you joined the Nigerian Police over a decade ago as a pastor and general oveerser of a church

I love the Police Force, and when you love something, you don’t necessarily need a reason. That was why I decided to come closer to them. During my training at the Police Training School (PTS) in Ikeja, Lagos, I served as the G1 of the students. Our set, under the command of our Commandant, Banji Lawal, built a police complex at PTS. Many people do not know that I joined the Nigerian Police over a decade ago as a spy police officer. Over the years, I have been promoted to higher responsibilities within the ranks and files of the force.

How do you combine your calling as a pastor with your duty as a police officer?

When God calls a man, He equally equips him. It is not by my own strength but by God’s grace. Out of His infinite mercy, God made me the National President of CPFN.

As an Insider in the Force, what is your view of the Nigerian police compared with public opinion?

People often mock the phrase “Police is your friend.” But in every organization, there are both good and bad people. You cannot judge everyone because of a few bad individuals. When you meet the good ones, you will appreciate the police force. Successive Inspectors-General of the Nigeria Police have been making efforts to flush out bad elements. I remember a particular Nigeria police officer who rejected about a hundred dollars offered as inducement by a member of the public. There are officers in the police force whom money cannot entice. When the fear of God is in them, they will give justice.

What is the secret of your sustained friendship with the Nigeria Police since over a decade ago now?

The police will not just accept someone as a friend without assessing the person. They must be sure you do not have a criminal record. There is sacrifice in relationships. I value relationships more than anything, and that has helped sustain my friendship with officers across different ranks.

How do you feel when fellow pastors seek your assistance whenever they have matters at the police?

I always try to find out the nature of the matter. You cannot say that because you know me you will commit a crime. However, in cases of intimidation or injustice, I can help follow up so that justice is done. I derive joy in helping people, and in return they pray for you.

What are you bringing to the table as the new National President Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN)?

I believe there must be a difference. My predecessors did their best, and I respect their efforts. But I believe the ultimate goal is increased revival and evangelism programmes in the Police community. If God does not watch over a city, those who watch do so in vain. Revivals within the police community will bring transformation. Therefore, we will intensify revivals and evangelism in the Police Community”

Your are also the National President of Pentecostal Ministers Forum (PMF). Please, also tell us about this particular association

Pentecostal Ministers Forum (PMF) like the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has been doing great work, helping pentecostl ministers, especially the younger generation understand that we have values to protect. We ensure our memebers realiize that the society is watching them. When you understand that people are observing your conduct, you will be more careful in how you act. Both the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) are like fathers to us. Both front line Christian bodies raise quality pastors, and we are not competing with them. Young ministers may have zeal, but we still learn from the fathers.

Share with us the secret of the rapid growth and influence of Kings-in- Christ Power Ministry of which you are the general overseer

It is only the Lord. When you please God, He makes a way where there seems to be no way. True success comes from God. I remember having a serious accident during my first year in Lagos. I am still surprised that I survived. When God wants to raise a man, no matter what the enemy does, that man may be wounded but cannot be defeated. The doctor who operated on me was the same person who paid my hospital bills. At that time there was nothing like transfer—everything was cash. My wife was crying and praying, saying if it was God’s will for me to die, then His will should be done. When they told the doctor I was a General Overseer returning from a meeting, he said he was also a minister and asked them to take me into the theatre. He personally paid the bills. Unfortunately, I lost contact with him. All these experiences remind me that every success belongs to God.

What is the reason for your annual survival thanksgiving service and party?

When two people have an accident, the one with serious injuries may spend two years recovering, while the one who escaped injury will come to church and testify, saying, “Praise God, nothing happened to me.” Another time I slumped in my bathroom. That day my wife initially said she did not want to go to her school. I insisted she should go, and she dressed up. As she was leaving, she suddenly returned and insisted she wasn’t going again. A few minutes later, I entered the bathroom and collapsed. The next thing I knew, I was in the hospital. Whif at wife was not at home that day the incident happened, it would have been a different and very sad story by now. When I see all that God has done in my life, I have every reason to thank Him. I will keep doing that until the day I die. This is only the beginning; the Lord has been very faithful.

How do you react to negative commentaries about churches in Nigeria and their pastors on social media?

If you live your life and nobody talks about you, that is a problem. The only people nobody talks about are the dead. Sometimes such things happen just to distract you, but you must stay focused.
