Bishop Dr. Theophilous Taiwo Ajose, state director of the Directorate of Politics and Governance ( PFN Lagos) has reiterated the importance of the involvement of the Church in politics, saying the activities of government also affect the Church.

Bishop Dr. Ajose, who is also the Special Adviser (General Duties) to the Lagos state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in a recent press interview said government belongs to the people and its activities affect the people, including the body of Christ.

His words: “Government belongs to the people and the activities of government affect the people. The people who are members of the Church are members of the society. The activities of government, including government policies and actions also affect the body of Christ,” the cleric stated.

Dr. Ajose, who doubles as zonal deputy director (South West) of the Directorate of Politics and Governance (DPG) of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), said the PFN believes that government was instituted by God and whom he said wants only the righteous to rule so that the people can rejoice.  He pointed that the Church has divine responsibility to be involved in the political affairs of Nigeria.

“The church has divine responsibility to get involved in the political affairs of the country. The church constitutes the majority of voters in this country. So, we have the divine mandate to take care of that aspect of the Church. The PFN is an arm of CAN among other arms. We come together under CAN to make decision” he said.
