Light Chapel Embarks on Mission of Breaking Darkness
In Agodo-Egbe, a Lagos congregation turns to fasting and prayer for 21 days.
For the next three weeks, the pulse of Light Chapel will beat to a different rhythm: less food, more prayer, and a single conviction repeated from the pulpit to the pew: that darkness does not get the final word.
From October 1 to 21, 2026, Light Chapel (Jesus Is Light Ministries) is holding its Annual Fasting and Prayer, a 21-day spiritual retreat for members and the wider community. This year’s theme, “Enforcing Your Victory Over Forces of Darkness,” frames the fast less as a plea and more as a stand.
The message is rooted in two scriptures: John 1:5, which declares that light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it, and Ephesians 5:8, which urges believers to walk as children of light.
The imagery of the programme carries the same idea: a figure with raised fists against a golden sunrise, broken chains falling away. For the faithful, it captures what the church describes as the heart of the fast: freedom, not just survival.
Organizers are inviting people to “come and experience God’s Word, His presence and divine empowerment.” The invitation is open, and the church’s headquarters at 32-39 Ajayi Bankole Street is the point of contact for details.
In a season when many Nigerians carry heavy burdens, the 21 days offer a simple proposition: fast, pray, and expect change.
