The Renewal Congress of Aladura and Celestial Churches in Politics (RECAP) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and thrown its weight behind the governorship aspiration of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Hon. Kadiri Oluwafemi Hamzat.
The endorsements were announced by the National President of RECAP, Pastor Professor Adebayo Adeniji, JP, PhD, MCIA, during the organisation’s prayer conference held in Lagos with the theme, “The White Garment Churches: From the Altar to the Nation.”
Addressing church leaders, ministers and members drawn from White Garment churches, Prof. Adeniji described the gathering as a historic turning point in the political engagement of Aladura and Celestial churches, stressing that Christians have a divine responsibility not only to pray for the nation but also to participate responsibly in its democratic process.

Quoting 1 Timothy 2:1–2, he said the conference was organised in obedience to the biblical mandate to pray for leaders and all those in authority so that Nigeria may continue to enjoy peace, stability and godly leadership.
The RECAP President explained that the organisation was established to unite members of White Garment churches on a common platform for constructive civic engagement while remaining committed to prayer, righteousness and national development.
According to him, RECAP’s guiding vision, “From the Altar to the Nation,” reflects its belief that genuine faith should inspire responsible citizenship and positive contributions to national development.

Announcing the endorsement of President Tinubu, Prof. Adeniji said the decision followed the organisation’s conviction that continuity in leadership would provide stability and allow ongoing reforms and developmental initiatives to yield greater benefits for Nigerians.
He maintained that leadership is a sacred trust and assured the President of the continuous prayers of the White Garment community for divine wisdom, sound health, protection, strength and godly counsel.
“God remains sovereign over the affairs of nations. We therefore commit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into God’s hands, praying that the Almighty grants him wisdom, divine health, protection and righteous counsel as he continues to serve Nigeria,” he declared.
On the Lagos governorship race, Prof. Adeniji said RECAP was endorsing Hon. Kadiri Oluwafemi Hamzat based on his track record of public service, administrative competence and extensive experience in the governance of Lagos State.
He described Hamzat as a leader whose years in public office have equipped him with the institutional knowledge and leadership capacity required for greater responsibility.
The RECAP President also reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to peaceful elections, political tolerance, responsible citizenship and the mobilisation of its members to participate actively and lawfully in Nigeria’s democratic process.
He urged White Garment churches across the country to rise above denominational boundaries and become instruments of national healing, peace and unity through prayers and constructive civic participation.
“Let our prayers become instruments of national healing. Let our unity become a force for peace. Let our participation strengthen Nigeria’s democracy,” he charged.
Prof. Adeniji concluded by reaffirming RECAP’s confidence in God’s sovereignty over the affairs of nations and formally endorsed President Tinubu’s re-election bid and Hon. Hamzat’s governorship aspiration.
He prayed for peaceful elections, righteous leadership and lasting prosperity for Nigeria, while encouraging Christians to combine fervent prayers with active participation in building a better nation.
