The Polytechnic Ibadan , is an Institution of higher learning founded in August 7th, 1970 to offer an alternative form of advanced education with a specific focus on acquiring technical skills distinct from regular University system.

The great Institution was created as a successor to the Erstwhile Technical College , Ibadan.

Since inception till date, the Institution has a track record of discipline and academic excellence as evident by the products of the school. Hence, the laudable performances of her graduates in their various fields of profession .

A school with a name that commands a global respect the world over can not just be trashed in the dust bin of history to immortalize an idol.

Changing the name of the Institution is not only weakening a globally respected brand but reducing the school’s age – long reputation and values.

The only Polytechnic with her naming uniqueness that came with a prefix ” The ” should not be stripped of her pride.

Wherever the barbaric culture of renaming glorious Institutions came from….

One would feel that creating new and promising channels to immortalize heroes would be a better idea than truncating the long earned glory of outstandingly successful entities.

This is a call to salvage the great Institution from the brink of loosing her symbol of Excellence , Pride and laudable Achievements.

THE POLYTECHNIC, IBADAN, our Alma Mater must not become a mirage.

Let’s stand up to save our legacy.

….Ise loogun ise
